About this listen
All I ever wanted to do was please my parents. But when I realized that wasn’t going to happen, I stopped trying and did as I pleased for the first time in my life.
Was I a spoiled princess? Far from it. But I did take a vacation. And met a stranger I think I fell in love with. Worse, it terrified me and I ran. Like a coward.
Imagine my shock when I learn he’s right here in New York City.
Guy Hamilton is the man I could never stop thinking about, and when our paths cross again, I learn it’s been the same for him.
While we work to uncover a corruption scandal involving both our parents, startling revelations come to light, and our world is turned upside down.
Will our love be enough to remain unscathed and come out on top together?

A bit ‘more’ when in audio
Though it wasn’t perfect, I enjoyed a lot of this book.
First, the back and forth between the past and the present was well done. Through it, we discover the characters and their personal struggles bit by bit. And the past scenes were deliciously sexy. Though I thought 6 years without any contact was a long time to stay in love, I liked both characters, and they had sweet–and hot–moments together.
The financial intrigue was interesting, and well developped. Maybe a bit too much actually, as I felt it took precedence over the romance, which kind of was rushed in the present scenes.
The family dynamics were toxic and at the root of the characters’ struggles, but I felt they were too much. I couldn’t really understand the reasoning behind the parents’ behaviors.
It was still a very enjoyable read, and you should definitely give it a try.
I loved the audiobook. I know and appreciate both narrators, and together, they gave life to the story. What bothered me a bit when I read the story–the financial intrigue–didn’t feel as complicated when narrated lively. The emotions seemed a bit stronger too. One of those stories that becomes a bit ‘more’ when in audio.
