About this listen
A roaring good adventure yarn spiced with fiery roadside brawls, the most groaning boards in the history of Yankee cookery, heroic escapes from death, and a rare love story, Roger Mifflin's story shows how bookselling can be one of the world's highest callings: dispelling ignorance while causing constant delight.

This is such a cute story. had me chuckling away all the way through. Thoroughly recommended. I have just downloaded the sequel! It was also free so what's not to love.

Brilliant from beginning to end
A romantic adventure that feels very true to life. The characters could easily be people I know; this despite the book being published over a century ago. Contemporary at the time, with few period details, and yet it's still a world and a society that feels all too familiar. I'm so glad I read this, and I'm looking forward to listening to the following book.

What a find!
A lovely funny warm-hearted book, something of the Good Companions and Cold Comfort farm. I’m really pleased to have discovered it.
