Summary

Meet Harry Dresden, Chicago's first (and only) wizard PI. Turns out the 'everyday' world is full of strange and magical things - and most of them don't play well with humans. That's where Harry comes in.

But he's forgotten his own golden rule: magic - it can get a guy killed.

Magic Noir

I loved this book, I know it has been split into two and I don’t mind waiting until September for part 2.
It spreads out the pleasure of listening to this universe Marsters is excellent, I don’t know why he doesn’t read more books. Harry is more conflicted and complex which makes him all the more interesting. A real Noir detective character walking the line. 👍

A Fantastic Beginning

Oh wow. How fabulous to be back in Dresden’s Chicago. When I read all the negative reports of this book I was devastated. But, this is almost a 13hr read, more than an average novel, and after finishing it I know that it’s a huge story...and may fit into a trilogy scenario...and trilogy terminology means the first two books must end with a rest between battles. I think this was a marvellous set-up, and as a Dresden fan |I’m happy with it – more than. Thank all the gods the next book is out next month so I only have about 4 weeks to wait. So please, fellow fans, stop whinging and agree that this was a brilliant gathering after the six-year-wait.

Dresden files is back with a bang

Really enjoy the Dresden files books, but from the feel of this entry in the series it was meant to be one book that has been split in two, I can’t say it’s a bad listen as Marster’s narration is top rate, and when the story works it really works. But as a cohesive whole it feels like half a book. Can’t wait for the next entry to see how this chapter in the Dresden files concludes.

Awesome

Been waiting for this book for years, was not disapointed. Just so you know - this book really only opens the story, so you'll have to get the next one to see how it will resolve.

A Beautiful Setup

I've seen quite a few reviews complaining that this seems like half a story, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Peace Talks is an extensive and well displayed prologue to what will likely be one of the most world changing events of Dresden.

The bolt is racked and the bullet sits snugly in its chamber.

Battleground is next, and Ye Gods and Little Fishes this got me ready!

A reasonable one

This one isn’t as good as some others but hey it’s Dresden!

It has its moments and could lead to some big things so fingers crossed.

It was good, just not great.

Harry Dresden on another mission

Great to hear this story and it appears to be building up to a huge battle. Harry is in the middle of it again. Great story and character building and performance. Waiting for the new release
