About this listen
Talking animals. Quirky cases. An enchanting town. This series has it all, like you’ve never heard before! Several hours of fast-paced cozy mysteries!
Jolene Hartgrave, here! I went from being a top dog lawyer to a hangdog pet psychic in the ruff part of town, all thanks to a pesky curse that gave me the gift of gabbing with animals.
But my luck is finally looking up. I’ve teamed up with a hottie police officer and his snarky, overprotective German shepherd to catch criminals. From a murdered fashion icon spinning a web of lies to the killed curator of an occult museum, I’m doggedly helping the police bring the bad guys to justice.
But there’s a catch. I’ve got a huge secret of my own – one the police can never find out about.
Can I solve the case and build a new life, or will I end up behind bars myself?
If you love talking animal sidekicks, clever mysteries, and a hilarious cast of characters, you won’t want to miss your chance to binge books one through four of the Pet Psychic Magical Mysteries in this special boxed collection.
Cozy mysteries that will make you laugh and keep you guessing right to the end.

Super fun great stories and narration
Jolene is a cursed shifter who cannot shift and has no magic, living on a island where everyone else does and shifters are hated. Not a good situation, especially for someone who was once a high flying lawyer and now makes a dubious living as a pet psychic, a side effect of the curse is that she can speak to all animals. This is a great premise for a series and the writer does not disappoint. Witty stories, good mysteries, great characters, loved Jolene sparky, independent and a survivor, Daisy the lie detecting dog, Peter the cop and Will the grumpy bear shifter, there various hilarious conversations with spiders, crabs, lobsters, rats and mice, and one very high snail. Her fight to discover a curse is an arc that stretches across the stories. Her relationship with Peter the cop develops nicely but is hampered by her lies and evasions. This set covers the first 4 books in the eight book series and I look forward to read the rest This is a new author for me but I will on the look out for more stories. Narration is great giving each character life and depth. Highly recommended

Fantastically fun.
This is definitely a boxset that you don’t want to miss out on. It is fantastically fun with amazing characters and original and imaginative stories. The narration by Hannah Somerville is brilliant, what makes the book even more enjoyable.

A must listen or read series
Oh wow!!! I have not known this author to produce a bad book, I don't think she could even if she tried. Each book (in any of her many series) are entertaining, humours, character driven, with funny or quirky sidekicks and above a magical experience you won't want to miss out on and in this box set you get four times the fun.
PRETTY LITTLE FLIERS
In this book it is the dog that says the snarky great one lines and I loved the banter between the dog and the main character. The mystery was good and had a numbers of very plausible suspects. Just loved everything about this book and it is a great book to bring a smile to your face and a good start to the box set..
When Jolene had to give up her career as a lawyer because of a curse she became a pet psychic. It is easier to explain being psychic to her customer than she was a hated shifter and is actually talking to them. However this job doesn't pay much and she is about to get evicted by her land lady. Which explains how gets talked into helping a handsome police officer and his annoying dog, there has been a murder in the building opposite and the only witness is a parakeet. The parakeet unfortunately didn't see anything and the three of them must go against orders and question more suspects to unearth the killer. Jolene needs to solve the case to get paid and pay the rent but the more she investigates the harder it is to keep her secret.
FRIDAY NIGHT BITES
It's good for a laugh and is highly entertaining. I enjoyed the mystery side to the story too and the fact that it kept you guessing as to who the killer was.
Jolene is once again asked by the handsome police man to help consult on one of his cases. A woman has been killed by spider bite and the only witness is a giant spider that is knocking on deaths door, he needs Jolene to find out as much as she can before it is to late. The women owned a sweat shop making clothes and ripped of fashion accessories. A fashion designer also died on the same night, of a heart attack. Could the two death be related? Jolene goes under cover to try and find out the truth and at the same time tries to keep her shifter life a secret. But when you work with a lie sniffing dog some secrets could prove to be to hard to keep, especially if her two worlds collide
GAME OF BONES
The characters are what makes it such a fun and quirky series (and a must listen) and I really like the way the relationship between the two characters is developing and of course the fun with the animals. The mystery was good and I didn't work out who the killer was.
Jolene has trouble saying no to the handsome cop which is why she finds herself attended the policeman ball, the ball her ex co-workers and ex fiance will also be attending. The only good thing is, is it is a masquerade ball and down on her luck pet psychic Jolene looks a lot different now compared to her high powered lawyer suits. Nobody will recognise her, right. If only that was the worst thing she had to worry about. While at the party the officer who is being recognised for his brave work is murdered and Jolene finds herself once again acting as a consultant for the police. She can't possible keep her two worlds apart as she investigates, especially as one of the first people that needs interviewing is her old boss. Torn between helping the handsome cop and keeping her secret Jolene must pull of a miracle, to bad she is the only one in Bejumere that can't use magic
MOUSE OF CARDS
I really loved this book. This is my favourite book in the series so far, although I might have said that about the last but each book gets better and better, so that it is hard to choose. I really love the characters and find each book adds another level to the enjoyment and intrigue that surrounds them. Jolene is a strong independent woman that doesn't need anyone but at the same time longs to be normal and this comes across really well in the story, so much so that you are rooting for it to come out well for her and her friends. I really like the friendship between her and Daisy the Lie detecting dog, one minute they are snipping at each other and then worried the other is okay, also with Peter now knowing one of her secrets it adds another sparkle to the book. The mystery was good and I certainly didn't work out who the murder was.
Jolene is asked to.consult on another one of Peter's case despite there being no animals involved. He does this because he thinks the place the murder happened would be highly interesting to her. It happen in an old museum, one that is currently hosting an exhibition on cursed artefacts. Jolene ever hopeful that she can find a cure for the curse that took her magic and stopped her ability to shift into an owl, jumps at the chance to put a murder behind bars and maybe just maybe find some answers on curses. A lot of people out side the museum are unhappy with the exhibition and a lot of people inside were unhappy with the changes the dead man was making. But are they really a motive to murderer someone? Jolene, Peter and Daisy will have to work together in order to get to the bottom of the murder, as well as work with a new boss. Jolene also has the worried fear over a friends strange behaviour and avoiding the leader of the underground shifters before he can ask her to do something she might regret or damages her friendship with Peter. Of course the big secret she still hides might do that all by its self.
I just love the narrator. In my opinion she is one of the better ones out there. She does amusing voices and even uses different sounds and sound effects to bring the series alive.

Awful
I couldn't finish it so I returned it. The story was dull and the occasional innuendo made it super awks.
