Summary

Hilarious love story
This book was hilarious from start to finish; I laughed that much I couldn’t catch my breath. I have listened to another book from this author and I got to say she knows how to tell a story with so much humour, and so far both the books I have read have been romantic love stories that make you like the characters and you are actually rooting for them to have a happy ending. And the humour is an added extra which I love.
Lori is an excellent narrator, I have listened to lots of looks narrated by her, and she is really good at the different characters voices. She also puts a lot of enthusiasm into the books which make you enjoy listening to the story.

Simply wonderful gem of a lesbian romance
Lovely, funny, moving, well written - Robin Alexander is one of my favourite writers and she's written another gem here.
Lori Prince is a great narrator and does an really good job but it is a shame that she did not adopt a New Orleans accent for Shannon's character, who had lived in the area her whole life. The audiobook is from Tantor Audio and other than this it has good production values.
I am saving Pitifully Ugly to my favourite Audible audiobooks and will enjoy listening to it again the next time I need cheering up.

A fine enough story
I do not think that this is Robin Alexander's best work. It felt a bit more formulaic than others I have read, and I didn't find myself as drawn to the characters as I needed to in order to be invested in the story.
That said, it was perfectly fine - the narrator is quite well suited - and I don't begrudge the time I spent listening at all. It just didn't sparkle the way I hoped it would, going from the high star rating and reviews.
