Summary

Do you want more optimism, confidence, resilience and motivation?

We currently live in a time of unprecedented challenges, uncertainty, overwhelming stress, loss of hope at times and a need for mental strength and adaptability to a new way of life.

Traditional 'positive thinking', trying to constantly tell yourself that everything is okay, no matter the circumstances, just isn't enough to make any lasting difference.

After 30 years working as a therapist, Paul McKenna has developed a unique approach - one that can guide you towards an all-round feeling of positivity - putting you into optimal states of mind, building up your resilience and enabling good decisions and actions that lead to successful results in life.

There is now irrefutable scientific evidence that shows that particular ways of thinking and acting produce tangible positive results in people's ability to deal with challenges and their overall quality of life. The research also shows that this mindset can be learned quickly just like any habit.

And that is why this is a practical psychological system in how to survive and thrive - how to discover your own natural most powerful resources for self-care, self-belief and for taking control of your life.

A concise series of exercises

The format of this book is a bit like the handbook of executive training: extremely concise, almost like bullet ponts at times. You'll get through it very fast because its not an introduction, exposition, or thorough discussion of Paul's approaches. His other books cover all that. Instead it's a whistle stop tour through his greatest hits. Really the shortest and most dense it could possibly be. That may be a good or a bad thing depending on how you like to learn. Paul doesn't take much time to try to convince you - he just gives you the tools and tells you how to use them. If you believe they're worth trying (and you should) then this should be enough for you. If you're expecting a comfortable listen and explanation of the theory with examples, you'll be disappointed. Also, as others have said, Paul talks very quickly through this one, and keeps the guided trances extremely short (longer ones are downloaded separately, free). I often listen to books on 1.2x speed but for this ine slowed it down to 0.8x for the duration. I recommend you try that too.

Don't waste your money.

The whole book is on two tracks. If this is for cost then it should be reflected in the price. Definitely will not buy another audio by Paul McKenna.

Listen, meditation, apply, repeat

Great way of telling the story and is inspiring. But repeats a lot of the content.

Rubbish

I lasted 50 minutes of this crap with absolutely nothing but McKenna telling me how clever he is and how this was so great and was going to be amazing. The more he says it the less I believe. Utter tosh.

Thoroughly enjoyed

Paul has a very soothing and smooth voice. Tried many of the techniques and found they did help me. Will be trying them again and trying to get out of my anxiety and depressing state.
hope to meet Paul one day.
