Private India

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Sad to say it was all about the delivery - the narration....

What other book might you compare Private India to, and why?

It's a typical James Patterson book - and I love JP's books, pretty much all of the Adult ones. Only read/listened to the Confession series of YA.

What didn’t you like about Amerjit Deu and Raj Ghatak ’s performance?

It was quite difficult to understand who was which character and the American Jack definitely didn't sound American!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I was disappointed to be honest, first time with an Audio book

Any additional comments?

Story is good, it's just the guys reading it - I am sorry to say.

Terrible reading

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

I like the story and I like the author but the acting / reading was absolutely appalling. an 8 year old child reading out loud for the first time would have done a better job

What was most disappointing about James Patterson’s story?

Could not get into the story as the reading made it too difficult to get into it. Shocking performance. I had to stop after an hour and put the book donw - shame as I have read all the other Private series.

How could the performance have been better?

get another reader, anyone really - I get a lot of audio books and have not realised up until now how important the quality of the reader is to the story

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Anger at such low quality due diligence and vetting process of the reading performance

Any additional comments?

More quality control when choosing your readers!

DREADFUL NARRATION - SHAME ON YOU JAMES PATTERSON!

Would you try another book written by James Patterson or narrated by Amerjit Deu and Raj Ghatak ?

I love Pattersons books but would not touch another until checking the narrator out. These two are terrible!

What will your next listen be?

I love Jo Jo Moyes books....always good narrators!

Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Amerjit Deu and Raj Ghatak ?

ANYONE!!

Any additional comments?

Generally James Pattersons books are excellent, this one has been totally ruined but the narration and I had to give up after trying to persevere for an hour.

Brilliant, Complicated Story. Poor Narration

This is a complicated, intricate, and diverse story. Well written as usual. With a couple of totally unseen plot twists at the end. No, make that at least 3 plot twists.!

However, what loses it points here is the narrator. Nothing wrong with his voice or characterisations, it just that at some points he reads as if the novel is written without punctuation! Some sentences are strung together as if there's no full stop (period) , separating them. Also, there is no real pause between scenes!!!

It may not all be the fault of the narrative, the editing may also be wanting, but whatever it is, it lets down a really good Patterson novel.

Still worth listening to because the story is great and you just won't believe the endings! But it feels as if it was not properly produced.

Disappointing

Would you try another book written by James Patterson or narrated by Amerjit Deu and Raj Ghatak ?

Other titles in the Private series are amazing, give them a go!

What was most disappointing about James Patterson’s story?

The pace - very slow

How could the performance have been better?

More easily understandable and distinguishable characters?

Any additional comments?

Don't let this book in the series put you off from the others - and the recordings are good too.

Cant listen to it as i hate the reader,

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Didn't listen to very much as I couldn't listen to the way it was read

Has Private India put you off other books in this genre?

No, only this narrator

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He didn't put any feeling into it, mispronounced things and was irritating

Did Private India inspire you to do anything?

no

Any additional comments?

Am hoping to return this book

Annoying narration

Story OK and dialogue narrated well. Other narration poor, phrasing and punctuation incorrect and irritating. Inflection lack detracted from the experience. Not a book I would listen to again.

Enjoyed listening to both

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The truth of the accident which killed Santosh's family

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed listening to this when I got into the story. Not the easiest of the Private series, but that is no bad thing
