Summary

Druhorozený syn chudého českého zemana Martin ze Stvolna odchází do Paříže na nejvěhlasnější univerzitu známého světa. Záhy se zaplétá do milostných avantýr a na tom nejméně očekávaném místě nachází svou první velkou lásku. Brzy mu jeho loutna a básnické umění otevřou cestu i do těch nejvyšších kruhů. Na studium nezbývá mnoho času, přesto však spolu s přáteli studenty vzbudí zájem inkvizice. Příčinou má být četba zakázaných knih, které kolují po městě, skutečnost je však jiná. Martinovi ze Stvolna nezbývá nic jiného, než z města uprchnout.
