The only certainty was uncertainty.

Thousands of worlds, hundreds of (mostly humanoid) species, dozens of new names with which to become acquainted and, with them, their different ideas and attributes, like phasing into the astral plane. There are adepts and Masters, slave owners and spies, psychopaths recruited as children to be assassins and tortured by the military the cruel, the insane and prophecies, two to go, predicting war and terrible destruction - or are they earnings with advice on how to avoid that. Some welcome the potential fighting, others seem to prevent it. And plenty more action throughout. The characters barely have time to be fully formed as the worlds swirl around them, but ?little by little they emerge as the book proceeds. It is an awe inspiring, if sometimes confusing, picture which draws the unsuspecting reader into its vast confusion
Narration is by Michael Mills whose pleasant voice is slightly jerky at times but still has good intonation, helping the reader to understand who is who and what they are doing within the gigantic scheme of things. His pacing is good and he also gives individual voice to numerous characters. Overall, it was a good delivery.

First in a trilogy, I personally felt rather lost for the earlier part of the book. But the concept was good and both terrifying and exciting. An introductory prequel would have been apreciated. However, as the story proceeds of becomes increasingly addictive and I am now looking forward to the second episode, to be called Prymus, Armageddon. Please note, this book does not stand alone but ends at a crucial point in the story. I was very fortunate in having been freely gifted with a complimentary copy of Prymus, Gateway, by the rights holder, at my request, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you. This is a wild, action filled book for SF space saga lovers, and recommended. But he aware, it takes concentration to work out who, and what, is happening in this kaleidoscopic story..
