About this listen

Voce: Piero Di Domenico

Citizen Kane is the masterpiece of American director Orson Welles. The film is a reflection on power in the American capitalist society and, in particular, the power carried by the press and information embodied in the film by tycoon Kane. The title in fact is Citizen Kane, which explicitly refers to the protagonist, the landed magnate Charles Foster Kane, played by Welles. Considered by the American Film Institute as the best American film of all time, the film will turn upside down the overt rules of the cinematic game, introducing significant new styling thanks to the shattering of conventional language through the repeated use of flashbacks, the role assumed by the music, and in terms of narrative and new perspectives.
