Summary

The Ivy Hawthorne of the human realm is dead.

Her innocence was buried with Prince Ardan, who sacrificed his own life for hers.

Now standing in her place is Ivy, Queen of the Winter Court - whose sole desire is to protect her Fae and avenge the death of her beloved prince. With the entire Seelie Realm poised for war, the Laltog King, at the urging of Teagan and Slaine, is planning to set the entire Faerie World on fire. With both Seelie and Unseelie magic surging through her veins, Ivy will stop at nothing to bring her cousins’ treachery to an end.

Now that she is the most formidable ruler in either realm, will the power Ivy possesses prove too much? Will she lose herself in the midst of the savagery of war and her thirst for vengeance?

For even surrounded by friends and allies, Ivy’s heart is frozen, perhaps beyond the reach of those who love her most.

Caught in the middle of a power struggle the likes of which the Seelie Realm has never seen, Ivy must find the courage to stand, even when she stands alone, in her new world of ice and snow and betrayal.

3.5 STARS ★★★✬✩

This book is for you if… you want to mend some of the damage inflicted to you by the prequel.

⤐ Overall.
To be honest, after the heartbreaker that was The Glass Scepter , there was a lot of damage control to be done by the final book in the Iron Crown Faerie Tale series. I did not like that ending there. Shattered doesn't even begin to describe my feelings.

Altogether, I'm definitely unsatisfied. I loved the twists and turns Bekah offers us in Queen of Ice and Snow, smartly squeezing in a lessons learned segment that nicely wraps up everything that's happened in the previous book.

I foresaw a part of the ending - solely on the grounds of wishful thinking if I'm being honest. There was just no other option and I'm glad that it came together like this. Everything else would have escaped plausibility in my eyes. The speed with which we raced towards the HEA was definitely unrealistic, though. Everything was just a tad too convenient and quick. A couple of pages more here and there would have served the book very well.

⤐ What’s happening.
Ivy's husband and lover is dead. Besides a bone-deep desire for revenge, there is also an army of darklings threatening the kingdom of the faeries. And then there's the matter of Bare's fatherhood and the impending execution of his wife and mother of his heir.
Con:
⇢ Ardan is missing
⇢ Ardan is missing
⇢ Ardan is missing
Pro:
⇢ in allies we trust
⇢ badass women to the front
⇢ newfound trust between Bare and Ivy

4 STARS. Would stay up beyond my typical hours to finish it. I found some minor details I didn't like, agree with or lacked in some kind but overall, this was enjoyable and extraordinary.

3 STARS. Decent read that I have neither strongly positive nor negative feelings about. Some thinks irked me and thus it does not qualify as exceptional.

A finale worthy of the series

I loved this series. I am obsessed with Faerie books and this series did not disappoint. I really loved the character development and how the finale closed each ones story line. I do think the book could've done with another hour or so of story just to further develop some of the plot but it was still so fun to listen to.

Like the other books. i loved the narration although i never understood why the narrator has a British accent when the MC supposedly grew up in the US? Nonetheless, she is a great narrator and she did an excellent job with the various character voices.

Per my request, I was given a free review copy of this audiobook in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are solely my own and are not influenced in any way.

Queen of Ice and Snow

WOW! This was a epic final book. Just when I was starting to handle the dismay that happened in the previous book, everything changed. What an amazing twist ending! Love this series. I would compare it to Game of Thrones mix in Faeries and magic. This is such a fantastic series the whole family might enjoy. Nikki Delgado did such an amazing job through the entire series keeping the characters all sounding different.
