Great guide
I enjoyed Raising Backyard Chickens which is a beginner-friendly approach to raising chickens in your backyard. I think that this book is an excellent starter for anyone who wants to know more information about starting their own mini farm. The book covers everything from choosing the right rooster to tips for egg collection. This was a great introductory guide on the topic of raising backyard chickens. It provides practical information that is easy to follow along with and would be a perfect fit for anyone who has ever wanted to try this activity but was unsure what steps to take.

Really enjoyed this book.
Unlike a lot of books on this topic, raising back yard chickens was an incredibly detailed and informative book, actually teaching us the do’s and don’t of keeping chickens, even going into detail about the size of coop you need, the different breeds of chickens and what they’re good for, and how to protect agains predators. Very detailed. Lovely listen.

Don't get egg on your face!

Very helpful!
I've been planning to raise chickens at home for a long time but never had the space. I recently moved to a new property which comes with a big back garden...so now I'm excited to start raising chickens but wanted some more information/advice and found this book.
My family was similar to how the author describes his. We used to raise chickens for eggs and meat. I remember being excited when we used to have the tiny chicks...used to feed them, hold them, play with them as a child..life was so simple back then!
I want to recapture that life again and involve my children and teach them the new skills.
This book has everything you need to start raising chickens at home or on the farm and enjoying the fruits of your labour!
Great book, definitely recommend it.

Great Guide to Begin
Haven't been raising chicks for long and my biggest issue was predators, from coyotes to owl's the section over how to keep them away and protect the chicks was fantastic and worked like a charm!

Such an amazing and helpful guide!
We just moved out of town with my girl and we got a massive space in the backyard, not just for chickens but we would love to buy cows, ducks maybe a horse as well in the soon future as we love animals a lot!
Raisin chicken was always one of my passions since I was a child. In my grandparent's backyard I was always helping around and playing with those lovely chickens. Now it was time to turn my dream and passion into reality and with this amazing guide for beginners, I started my chicken colony finally! To be honest I'm going to turn into a small business too as soon as we will have new fresh eggs. A long way to go but with this guide I learned so much about these amazing animals and how to take care of them.

Great guide for newbies to raising homegrown chickens
This was a great listen. The author covered things, I didn’t even think about, like observing the behaviour of the chickens which gives you great insight into why they may not be laying eggs or when they will stop.
The book is well structured and got a lot from the first chapters which broke down the benefits of doing this but also provoking you to think about whether it’s really right fir your before starting. Great job.

Informative and a Candid guide!
Growing up, we raised chicken in our compound in an African set up and this enable us to have fresh organic chicken and eggs when we want to. I have sought for how to do same do kids can grow chickens as well and the book comes in handy.
It gives informative guide on how to go about it, which is very helpful.

Rescued hens
Not too long ago a friend of mine rescued five hens from the egg industry. Needless to say they're in a real state, bold patches despite only being 1yo, not fully knowing all their natural behaviors. We've been exploring resources to help us get them back to better health, and this book has been amazing! It helped us prepare their housing and bedding, how much space they need, how to set up feeders and water, and what we should feed them to boost nutrition, etc. It's been amazing to watch them explore some greenery and relax. There have been some eggs so far and we expect them to have more as their stress reduces with time. For anyone who can, I'd recommend considering rescuing, as the hens are just as amazing and still have so much life ahead of them!
