*Now a major TV series starring Gary Oldman*

'A pulsating spy thriller' Daily Express

****

Slough House is the Intelligence Service outpost for failed spies, former high-fliers now dubbed the 'slow horses'. Catherine Standish, one of their number, worked in Regent's Park long enough to understand treachery, double-dealing and stabbing in the back, and she's known Jackson Lamb long enough to have learned that old sins cast long shadows. And she also knows that chance encounters never happen to spooks, even recovering drunks whose careers have crashed and burned.

What she doesn't know is why anyone would target her.

So whoever's holding her hostage, it can't be personal. It must be about Slough House. Most likely, it's about Jackson Lamb. And say what you like about Lamb, he'll never leave a joe in the lurch.

He might even be someone you could trust with your life.

The Slow Horses triumph again

Loved this book: the story; the dialogue; the characterisation. Another fabulous narration by Sean Barrett. His depiction of Jackson Lamb was outstanding.

i am a big fan of the slow horses books , which i have only discovered recently. A big part of my enjoyment has been the quality of the narration. Thank you Sean Barrett.

Good old Jackson Lamb

Apart from feeling I need to open windows and have a good wash after spending time in the company of Jackson Lamb, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The humour, the types, the dastardly plotting, River.... Described battles are never the best but revealing glimpses of Slow Horses' characters and capabilities when moving at speed draws me to start the next book today. Who'll leave the scene next? Clever Mr Herron.

So pleased to have found this series

Starting at Book 1 is recommended as the characters' stories follow through in each book, although they are stand alone. The characters are flawed but likeable in most cases, which helps the enjoyment. The stories are excellent and the good descriptions of the scenes and action which make everything easy to imagine, without being too wordy. I am tempted to finish the series but enjoy them so much I'm spreading them out. As ever Sean Barrett makes the perfect reader.

Very entertaining.

Enjoyable and entertaining. Vivid characterisation and expert reading. The plot is a bit far-fetched, but it's a great listen!
