Could almost be a short film
The choice of music and sound effects in this audio book, along side the great voice narrations felt incredibly immersive.

Interesting concepts explored in a short bite
I actively enjoyed the characters in this feature. Rho, the near-human, appeared as a devout Imperial servant. Nolan, the tech priest, provided good insight. We had a glimpse of Leithi, and I could help note the contrast between herself and her less ruthless (familial) sister, Verity, in the other books.

Short but sweet
Easy listen, not long at all, good quick story, great voice acting, sisters of battle awesome as always. This book is listed as the first in the Sister Miriya saga.

Short but sweet, a great audiodrama
Listened to this while on a walk with the dog. Brilliant pacing of the story and a satisfyingly grim-dark setting & conclusion.

Very skippable
Perfectly average, not really worth a credit. Not a very engaging plot or story.

An entertaining audio drama
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good solid hour (and a bit) of entertainment. The performances of the main actors are decent and the story is engaging. The only significant fault I found with Red and Black was a plot twist which rather reduces the complexity (and thus the interest) of the story's main dilemma (if you've listened to it I'm sure you know which bit I'm taking about!). Otherwise, I very much enjoyed it.

At 1hr 11mins for the price of a credit???
This short story should be included free with your audit account. Why spend your credit on this when you can get a full length novel for the same credit? The story itself is a curio for fans of James Swallow's Sister of Battles novels Fire and Faith and Hammer and Anvil. if you have a credit to spare and have not already done so; I recommend Faith and Fire as it's much better value than this titbit. In regards to the narration, Lisa Bowerman and Beth Chalmers do a fine job.

Good story but poor effects
I liked the story (even though it was a bit rushed. Unfortunatelly the poor sound quality of effects (like gunshots), problems with volume (some of ambient sounds overwhelming the narrator) made it a bit unpleasant. Overall worth the listen (for SoB fans especially).
