THE LANDMARK MEMOIR OF A GLOBAL MUSIC ICON

SHORTLISTED FOR THE IRISH BOOK AWARDS 2021

Sinéad O'Connor's voice and trademark shaved head made her famous by the age of twenty-one. Her recording of Prince's 'Nothing Compares 2 U' made her a global icon. She outraged millions when she tore up a photograph of Pope John Paul II on American television.

O'Connor was unapologetic and impossible to ignore, calling out hypocrisy wherever she saw it. She remained that way for over three decades.

In her acclaimed No 1 bestselling memoir Rememberings, O'Connor told her story - the heartache of growing up in a family falling apart; her early forays into the Dublin music scene; her adventures and misadventures in the world of sex, drugs and rock'n'roll; the fulfilment of being a mother; her ongoing spiritual quest - and through it all, her abiding passion for music.

Rememberings is intimate, replete with candid anecdotes and full of hard-won insights. It is a unique and remarkable chronicle by a unique and remarkable artist.

A really good listen!

I really enjoyed this book, it opened my eyes to things that were before brushed off as the ramblings/antics of a musical nut. It also made me want to listen to Sineads music again so I've been finding some stuff I didn't even realise she did. Hers is an inspirational story in my opinion .My only disappointment is that I've read to the end now, I wanted to hear more!!

What Sinéad never mentioned….

I so like and admire Sinéad O’Connor courageous woman. Demure, beautiful, heart filled, with the roar of a lion!
What Sinéad never alluded to is the depth of her generosity, who she has helped or the extent of her charitable contributions; but then this isn’t surprising is it?. There were many.
Listening to Sinead‘s story in her own voice was a treat for the senses. It was both heart wrenching and hilarious. Her soft chuckles were infectious and I will never hear the word ‘beautiful’ said again without hearing Sinéad saying it in my mind.
A great listen, an amazing honest story.

It’s Wonderful

Definitely one worth the audible download because it’s read by Sinead who, thank god, no longer gives a shiny one what most people think. Brilliant from start to finish. I started it all over again as soon as I’d finished. Never done that before, but it is that good!

a beautiful and brutally honest insight.

I couldn't stop listening to this until I finished. Sinéad has written and told this from the prospective of walking you through her life in a style that I can only call a conversation with a friend. she has all ways stood for the children of not just Ireland but the world and was treated in the undignified way that I can only describe as being gas light and shunned but her peers the church and others in the entertainment industry.
