About this listen
A Warhammer 40,000 Audiobook
The Emperor’s Children seek sensation above all else, but when Xantine's warband come upon an isolated Imperial world, he sees an opportunity to pursue the finer things in life. How long can the proud warlord maintain his 'perfect' rule – and will the planet survive his reign?
LISTEN TO IT BECAUSE
It's a tantalising look into the gleefully twisted minds of the Emperor's Children, as an arrogant warlord strives to 'save' an Imperial world from its own imperfections.
THE STORY
Once a united Legion, the disparate splinters of the Emperor’s Children now eke out a violent, hedonistic existence between the stars, raiding and ravaging worlds to indulge their fathomless appetites.
Xantine, proud leader of the Adored and a true son of Fulgrim, wants more than simply pillaging backwater worlds. He soon finds what he has been searching for – Serrine, a wealthy but cruel planet festering under misrule and inequality, cut off from the Imperium by warp storms. It is too tantalising a prize to ignore, and Xantine sets out to bring perfection to his new world.
But perfection is an elusive concept, and as threats creep from the depths of Serrine and the ranks of the Adored, the rot at the heart of Xantine’s perfect rule is laid bare...

Praise Slaanesh!! A new experience!
Excellently written tale of a heedless quest for decadence and worship. I like this new few on the Emperors Children, some great characters and pitifully magnificent they are. Great voice acting also. First of many hopefully!

Amazing voice acting
Fantastic listen offering a rare insight into the Emperors Children as well as the common 40k citizen.

Rich and Richard did some great work here.
The Emperors Children in all their dysfunctional hedonistic glory! Write a sequel and I’ll buy that too!

Excess and Drama Abounds
This book is a great slice of life story of Emperor's Children marines, their schemes, desires and dreams. Set post Cadia, it follows a warband on their own ship coming across an enticing prize of a rich agri world cut off from the imperium, which hides it's own dark secret they eventually discover. The characters of the EC marines are all very well written as is their constant jockeying for power. The narrator is also excellent, with clear difference amongst the characters.

A pretty good story with a lot of twists and turns.
Reminded me of some of the older 40K books, I liked it. Voice performance was good, too.

Great listen
By no means do you need to read them but it follows on nicely from the Fabius bile series and genefather. Great to see the emperors children get some love ahead of their hopeful codex release

Perfection!
There is no better word for this novel. It is utterly excellent. My favourite novel set in 40k and I have read quite a few. Kept up interest with no idea how it would end until the final minutes, Even better it was hard to work out how I actually wanted a novel about such depraved marines to end! The caveat is I do say this as something of an emperor's children fan but this is an all round great 40k novel.

Brilliant characterisation
A fantastic story of a lesser known warband, great plot and characters which perfectly captures not just the essence of the old Legion but the nature of Chaos itself. Loved it. highly recommend.
