Summary
Riley thought he knew what to expect from college, but he never planned for angels, demons, or a team of attractive, overprotective guardians.
When one fateful night opens his eyes to a world he never knew existed, Riley Shepard must navigate a host of supernatural dangers, all while struggling with new and confusing feelings for his guardian angels. With the promise of friends, family, and freedom finally within his grasp, he fears not only for his heart but for his life, as well.
Lucky for him, some things are worth dying for.
Revelations is the first book in the slow-burn harem/poly romance series Fire & Brimstone, featuring hurt/comfort, swoon-worthy guardian angels, sexual awakening, and an unlikely hero, too innocent for his own good.
Trigger warnings include: situations of homophobia (both external and internal), past child abuse, self-harm, mental health, and one instance (prologue) of nongraphic sexual assault.

Very Addictive Story!
I read Revelation - book one in the Fire and Brimstone series - when it first came out, and eagerly read the next 5 books in the series. This is a fantastic series - it has a lot of action, some heavy angst and tense moments, paranormal aspects, and a lot of amazing romance as Riley and his angels find their happily ever after and what works for them. This is a slow burn - in book 1 there isn't any real romance, but you see the start of what will eventually take place. Revelation focuses a lot on Riley and how he came to be who he is, and why he has his angels. I enjoyed the narrator of this book, but it wasn't my absolute favourite - I wasn't in love with the voices picked, especially for Riley. I will admit this dimished my enjoyment of the audiobook a little bit, but for others this might not be an issue. I did feel the audio was well-done and well-edited. I will definitely keep going with the series as it continues on audio.

Riley and his guardian angels...
This a very slow burn/finding you are gay romance. Riley has been instilled gay is bad, his foster mom Ms Janet is an overly religious woman who took care of Riley but also abused him mentally. When Riley is assigned 3 guardians he starts to understand some things he learned were not right and that he might like boys. He is super sweet and hates confrontation, so his roommate treats him poorly. I enjoyed the story. This first book is just the beginning. The narration was good, there are so many characters sometimes voices get mix up in my brain.

Great start
Great start to the series by Nikole Knight. Characters where interesting and the storyline felt good. Love the world the author created. Can't go wrong with book narrated by Kirt Graves. Can't wait for the second installment.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

One of the best stories AND audiobooks.
I’m completely kicking myself for taking so long to pick this book up. From the very first page I was completely riveted and my interest never waned. It’s a slooow burn (there really hasn’t been much development, if any, in this one), but there were so many feelings and emotions I didn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. Add in some interesting world-building, an intriguing plot, unique amazing characters. This book was just five stars across the board! The only thing I’m unsure about is if I can wait for the rest of the audios, or if I’ll have to just read the next books now, then relisten when the rest of the audios come out! If you’re into slow burn romances with unique fantasy twists, this is definitely the book for you!

amazing!!!
What a fantastic start to the series!! I absolutely adored the book, I couldn't stop listening, I finished it in a day! I loved the world building and how clues were slowly given to us. Riley was an amazing main character, I loved him immediately and I was invested in his story. I loved the angels too, the way they took care of him just warmed my heart. This was amazing, I really really can't wait for more!! And the narrator did a fantastic job bringing the story and the characters to life.

An interesting start to a series
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this novel. I don’t read many paranormal books, but the synopsis intrigued me, and I knew when the opportunity arose to listen to this book, I had to give it a shot. No small part of that was Kirt Graves. I love his narrations and his quality of work is always stellar. He definitely helped with my enjoyment of the story.
I also want to address thee myriad of trigger warnings – all of which are necessary and important. There were moments of great suffering for the main character, Riley. I was uncomfortable and I felt that pain. Now, I am an empathetic person. That being said, there were a few moments I struggled to keep going. The stories of the abuse Riley suffered as a child were devastating. The cruelty of his foster mother knew no bounds, and then he winds up with one of the most homophobic roommates on the entire campus. It often felt like Riley couldn’t catch a break, and anytime he tried to step out and have fun, his horrendous foster mother would intervene. You’d think being away and at college would have loosened her grip, but it didn’t. Her homophobia and puritanical views were unrelenting.
Okay, so now that the tough stuff is out of the way. The whole premise intrigued me. Two Guardian angels sent to protect Riley. They do just that one night and it becomes clear Riley is in danger. Now, I’m not familiar with this worldbuilding of angels, demons, creatures, and – frankly – violence. I could, however, relate to the tenderness and kindness of Jay and Noel. Even Gideon had his moments. Riley struggles with understanding what is going on around him. He planned a nice quiet education. He’s in for so much more than that.
Riley’s naïveté spoke to me. Not everyone experiences our sexualized culture the same way. He struggles with understanding his body’s yearnings versus the religious and zealous upbringing. There are no easy answers, but I like that he didn’t just jump into bed with anyone. There are more books and I foresee a sexual awakening, but I’m counting on it being done with decorum and kindness. God knows, Riley deserves to be treasured.
And so I hope the next book is available on audio soon. I’m so glad I listened to this one – disturbing parts and all. Finally I’ll mention the humor. Plenty of it to go around, lightening the piece. The powerful piece.

Oh my goodness!!!
So I’ve had this series on my tbr for a while, and in fact have had the first three books on my kindle from last year. I saw that the audiobook was available and thought to myself “I’ve been meaning to read them for ages - this’ll be ideal to get me started as I can listen at work”. I’d recommend that you don’t - because you may be like me...and get entirely too hooked on the story and not get much work done.
The characters are very well defined and and fully formed. We really get a feel for what Riley, Jai, Noel and Gideon are like, how they think and how they act (especially Riley since he’s the character who’s point of view the majority of the story is told from). We learn about angels and guardians, heaven and hell, demons and more - all as Riley does. We see his thoughts and feelings as he discovers the world around him is different from what he thought. There’s also lots of lasting effects from his childhood/adolescence and we see as he tries to work though this.
This is definitely slow burn and has kept me hooked - I finished the audiobook and then over the weekend have devoured the kindle version of book 1 and book 2, started on book 3 and have purchased the next 3. I’m definitely excited for more audiobooks of the series to come out.
Kirt Graves is a narrator I haven’t listed to much from, and I’ll definitely be looking to rectify this. His narrating is smooth, with distinct characterisation for each character and definitely enjoyable to listen to. As much as the writing, his narrating kept me hooked on listening.
I can’t wait to see where this series goes!

I devoured this one
This book was absolutely brilliant. Riley was sweet, awkward and a little standoffish. Poor Riley desperately needed love, affection and a place to belong. I loved the fact that he had a friend to share the questions in his heart.
This story was written beautifully and pulled me into its depth effortlessly. The raw emotions floating around made my heart ache. There were parts where I cried, others where I laughed and some where I was left simply curious to see his things would plan out.
Narrator was amazing; he made the characters come alive.

Utterly brilliant. Sweet and captivating. Amazing narration.
Lovely and captivating story, sweet like a warm blanket with undertones of more to come. Kirt’s narration makes the story - he is absolutely incredible and one of the best narrators ever.
