About this listen

The hotly-anticipated sequel to The Devil Wears Prada – the million copy bestseller that took the world by storm

Everything’s in place for the season’s hottest launch:

Tall latte (with two raw sugars)? Check.

Gucci trench (draped over desk)? Check.

Outrageous, unreasonable demands? Check.

Andy has just turned thirty and is an incredibly successful magazine editor, working closely with her best friend Emily, another Runway survivor. She’s about to get married – life’s on track and she’s been careful to stay clear of Miranda Priestly, her dreadful first boss. But Andy’s luck is running out. Miranda Priestly isn’t the kind of woman who hides in the background.

She’s back… and more devilish than ever.

Not quite as good as the devil wears prada

I really enjoyed the first book and was expecting great things from the sequel however they were not all delivered and there are a few storylines that were never finished off in my opinion
At some points I wanted to shake Andi but on the whole the story was ok but had a predictable ending - it was also a bit long

What a belter!

I loved this story! The twists and turns kept me listening to the point where I didn't want to put it down and started to look for excuses to keep listening! Just when I thought I could guess what was going to happen I was completely blind-sided by totally unexpected developments. I really didn't expect it to end the way it did either - until it got to the end! I hope they make a film of it!

A mixed bag

This shouldn't be called 'Revenge wears Prada'. It should be called something like: 'A decade on. What's Andy doing now?'. Just as the first book captured that first job feeling when you're in your early 20s in a big city. This one seeks to capture that third or fourth job, mid-30s, everyone you know is having kids moment. And, it is successful at that to an extent. The problem is the first half of the book is dreary stuff. It takes ages for any meaningful conflict to happen. The second half is pretty great. I don't actually blame the author. This could all have been fixed with more rigorous editing, in my opinion. Worth a read. But, just know what you're getting.

Delicious guilty pleasure!

I re-read this often. It's a bit of girly fun - with all drama of the first book. In fact I like this book to the original.
Lots of description about glamorous lifestyles, magazines and clothes. The characters are likeable - or horrible (you know who) and the descriptions of their encounters is amusing.
It's well narrated brining the book to life.
If ever I need a distraction this book does the job nicely.

Good story continuing from the previous novel

Revenge often gets bad reviews. I found it to be a natural successor to Devil. More Miranda would have been great.

Loved it!

I love the film and always wanted to read the sequel book. The narrator did a brilliant job of reading this book makes the characters really come to life! I was so involved I started thinking in her voice!

If you're a fan of the film or the previous book I certainly recommend you read this! I got way to emotionally attached as if Andy & Emily were my friends to. Loved it! Really hoping they make a film out of this.

Didn't love it

The Devil Wears Prada it's excellent, still. This book is an easy listen, which is nice if you'd like to continue the story but it's fairly predictable and pretty boring.

Indecisiveness and coincidences

What a drastic change from the first book!
What has happened to the bright, smart and aspiring Andy from before? How has she become so indecisive, insecure, self-conscious, inapprehensive and unobservant, not getting any clues or preferring to hide in a shell and hope the problems would somehow dissipate? She wanted to say something, but she didn’t… She decided to put it aside for a while… she preferred to postpone the conversation… she couldn’t face it right then… - and this goes through the entire book.
The Miranda character is also so different from the first book, just a cardboard depiction of a wicked woman with no depth or drama underneath. Very disappointing.
The plot is far-fetched and based on coincidences. People keep on bumping into each other in New York as if it was a tiny village. (Spoilers alert from now on!) Andy keeps on bumping into people: Emily on a cooking class, Alex in the shops, Alex’s girlfriend in mothers’ group – all meeting just by a mere chance! How many people are there in that city?
Apart from the coincidences, the whole plot is a stretch. And breastfeeding a newborn baby right after several rounds of strong drinks at a party?..
This book is really much worse than the first one. Even the title… Revenge? Who is taking revenge from whom?
The narration was OK though.

Didn't disappoint

Having read the first book and loved the film, Devil Wears Prada, I felt it was time I updated myself on the goings on between Andy and Emily. This time though I went for an audio book and was not at all disappointed. I loved catching up with the band of ladies from the first book and learning what they'd been up to. Also, the narrator did a great job. I'm not going to spoil anyone's enjoyment, but if you loved the first, you are going to love this. Happy listening all :)
