About this listen

Rewilding is the first popular book on the ground-breaking science behind the restoration of wild nature.

As ecologists Paul Jepson and Cain Blythe show, rewilding is a new and progressive approach to conservation, blending radical scientific insights with practical innovations to revive ecological processes, benefiting people as well as nature. With its sense of hope and purpose, rewilding is breathing new life into the conservation movement and enabling a growing number of people to enjoy thrilling wildlife experiences previously accessible only in remote wilderness reserves.

‘De-domesticated’ horses galloping across a Dutch ‘Serengeti’; beavers creating wetlands in the British countryside; giant tortoises restoring the wildlife of the Mauritian islands; perhaps one day even rhinos roaming the Australian outback - rewilding is full of exciting and inspirational possibilities.

A compelling and totally fascinating book

Compelling, a remarkable read on the new science of regeneration. Incredibly interesting and provides optimism on the essential rewilding we will reap the boundless advantages of in the decades ahead.
Uplifting and positive which is what we need right now. It’s complex and fascinating, I’m
going to listen to it for a second time.

An exciting & fascinating insight into rewilding

Very well laid out, explained, narrated and in line with a lot of what I already have read and learnt (whilst offering up a whole lot more).

Very glad I downloaded this and I expect I shall refer to it in future.

Lots of insights from both the sciences and humanities.

Scientifically rigorous when it needed to be, while not afraid of sharing ideas and expectations of the future.

Unbalanced volume

Great content. I enjoyed the book, but the volume of the readers voice was so inconsistent through their sentences I either couldn’t hear them or it was so loud it hurt.

fantastic hidden gem

Read it because it was included in my membership but what a great little find.

The book has a fantastic narrative feel to it, told almost as a story rather than just cold facts. The first few chapters especially do an outstanding job of portraying the importance of re-wilding, or rather the significance of what we have lost over millennia.

The book is communicated in a non-bias manner, with little blame placed on any one factor of the loss of our wild world. All theories are clearly displayed as theories and in general I feel the book is informative and scientific in nature, as opposed to written with the intention of publicising the authors own agenda.

Overall a fascinating read, narrated very well too in a calming way. Will definitely look for other works by this author.

Mindblowing

Ever wondered how we can save our planet? 'Rewilding' has compelling answers to the required science and its interrelated sociopolitical transformation processes. It paints a hopeful picture of a future that is already unfolding.

Fascinating insight into rewilding.

I don't think I would have chosen this book if it hadn't been among my free Audible suggestions. I am very new to literature about nature and ecology, and when I started listening, I thought "Rewilding" might be too complex for my very limited knowledge. But the book is written so well and clearly that I had no problem understanding anything and very much enjoyed learning about rewilding, its origins and evolution and its potential challenges and benefits.
The authors present truly fascinating and revolutionary ideas and - while rewilding may have its risks - nature-based solutions and their potential benefits are unquestionably worth exploring.
"Rewilding" is an excellent and enjoyable listen, and I am looking forward to learning more about nature and ecology.
