Summary

Michael Hordern stars as Jeeves with Richard Briers as Bertie in a BBC Radio 4 full-cast dramatisation. Mayhem has broken out at Brinkley Court and there would seem to be a desperate need for Jeeves. But Bertie is fed up with the assumption that he is merely an addendum to his personal attendant. There are more brains in the Wooster household than just Jeeves, you know! Stand back, Bertram Wooster is on the case.

Classic PGW

Classic PG Woodhouse, with good performances by a well chosen cast.
Briers and Hordern are excellent as the main characters.

Right Ho, Jeeves.

Wonderful performance. Very enjoyable afternoon listening. Nothing more to say but this stupid system insists I write more words. Bah

Wonderful voices in very special dramatisations.

Would you listen to Right Ho, Jeeves (Dramatised) again? Why?

I have, many times! It brings a smile to my face every time.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Right Ho, Jeeves (Dramatised)?

Bertie imagining he can solve everyone's problems without Jeeves.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Laugh a lot each time.

Any additional comments?

These BBC dramatisations were gems; I don't think anyone has come close to the sheer joy of Richard Briers speaking the words of Wodehouse.

Master craftsmen at work - PGW, Briers and Hordern

This dramatisation is excellent and really brings the story to life. Briers is the best Bertie there is. Splendid.

You can't do better than this!

If you could sum up Right Ho, Jeeves (Dramatised) in three words, what would they be?

Hilarious, brilliant, silly

What was one of the most memorable moments of Right Ho, Jeeves (Dramatised)?

I loved all of it from beginning to end.

What does Michael Hordern and Richard Briers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Everything! These two completely make Jeeves and Wooster. If ever a man was born to play the hapless, hilarious Bertie, it's Richard Briers – this is a masterclass in comic acting and verbal dexterity. He is genuinely hilarious. And if ever a man was born to play the witheringly acerbic Jeeves, it's Michael Hordern. They make this what it is – brilliantly funny. I really hope they had as much fun working together as it sounds like they did...

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I just laughed, again and again, out loud, and very few books ever do that to me. The combination of Wodehouse's fantastically anarchic writing coupled with Briers' and Hordern's superb performances pretty much guarantee that you can't fail to find this brilliantly silly and side splittingly funny.

Any additional comments?

Wodehouse's writing was really ahead of its time in its joyous silliness and its anarchic use of language – there's something a bit Goons-y about it – just the character names have me in fits. It still feels fresh and a bit bonkers in 2018. And did I mention that Briers and Hordern are brilliant? I may have.. once or twice.

Briers' performance brings Bertie Wooster to life.

Excellent reading brings out all the Wodehouse humour and one wants to listen to it all over again straightaway.Richard Briers is exceptional.
