Summary
With her previous best sellers, Dr. Brené Brown helped us realize that vulnerability is the birthplace for trust, belonging, joy, creativity, and love. Yet a willingness to be vulnerable means accepting that life will sometimes knock us down. Where do we find the strength to get back up? In her research for her breakthrough book Rising Strong, Brené discovered a key factor. "Without exception," she says, "the concept of spirituality emerged from the data as a critical component of overcoming struggle."
In Rising Strong as a Spiritual Practice, Brené offers an in-depth exploration of this critical and oft-misunderstood aspect of wholehearted living. Here she defines spirituality as something not reliant on religion, theology, or dogma - rather, it is a belief in our interconnectedness and in a loving force greater than ourselves. Whether you access the sacred through traditional worship, solitary meditation, communion with nature, or creative pursuits, one thing is clear: Rising strong after falling is a spiritual practice that brings a sense of perspective, meaning, and purpose to our lives.

Thought I was buying the actual book!
Where does Rising Strong as a Spiritual Practice rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I thought I was buying the book but was actually a recording of the author talking at an event about the book. Still fun and insightful but a little disappointing considering the length and price!
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
Brené's anecdotes about her own life were warm and relatable.
What about Brené Brown’s performance did you like?
Brené has a clear and emotive speaking voice. She speaks with conviction and clearly believes the messages she is putting across.

Brené is great but title is misleading!
Good but doesn't explore as a spiritual practice until the very end in the Q and A.

Live speech the atmosphere is a fun bonus!
This is my first Beene Brown work. I really enjoyed it. It was fun. Interesting. Permission giving. Accessible. Thought provoking. Educational.
I was miffed when I discovered this was a recorded live speech but the content is amazing. The sound quality is good and because it’s live there’s a bit of atmosphere too!

A bit dry
Effectively you're listening to a long speech. The speaker is funny at times. However, there is no beginning, middle or ending. The points made are not very coherent and well supported.

Life changing
I'm a huge Beene fan. This is by far my favourite audio she has produced. If you are unfamiliar with her work, starting here is a brilliant intro into her work but I would recommend starting from the beginning too.
