About this listen

Miss Constance Shepherd had once been in love, but after being deeply hurt, she has vowed to never do so again. Her world is shattered when her stepfather announces that she and her sisters are to marry his friends, men nearly thrice their age. Fearing the worse and wanting to escape from the marriages of convenience, Constance leads her sisters away to London in hopes to find safety. But on the way, they are accosted by highwaymen, and a mysterious man in black comes to their rescue.

Stephen Chambers once loved a woman, but the ruin of his family's finances and a horrible tragedy have now led him to close off his heart to love. Living in the woods among friends, he vows to avenge the death of his mother, killed by the hands of bandits. When he finds Constance and her sisters in trouble, he comes to their aid and then offers them an opportunity for safety in his camp.

Fearing that her stepfather will find her, Constance decides to trust Stephen and remains in the woods with him. As the two grow close, old feelings arise in Constance and ignite a new desire brought on by the most delicious of kisses. Yet, doubts soon arise concerning her heart and her faith in Stephen, for her mother had warned her that Rogues Always Wear Black.

Stephen understands how he feels about the woman, yet he also fears that which he must eventually confront will only hurt her. His choice is simple - either follow his heart, which leads to Constance, or continue holding on to his need for revenge.

The Princess Bride meets Robin Hood in this steamy Regency romance adventure.

Awful

I rarely give up on a title but this was one I couldn't continue. The narrator was particularly off putting and the story did not grip my interest. This would appear to have been written by someone with little or no understanding of the country and time period the story was supposed to be set in.
