Summary

Roused by a single drop of blood, Rosie Daniels wakes up to the chilling realisation that her husband is going to kill her. And she takes flight - with his credit card.

Alone in a strange city, Rosie begins to build a new life: she meets Bill Steiner and she finds an odd junk shop painting, Rose Madder, which strangely seems to want her as much as she wants it.

But it's hard for Rosie not to keep looking over her shoulder. Rose-maddened and on the rampage, Norman is a corrupt cop with a dog's instinct for tracking people. And he's getting close. Rosie can feel how close he is getting....

A brilliant, dark-hued fable of gender wars, a haunting love story, and a hold-your-breath triumph of suspense, Rose Madder is Stephen King at his electrifying best.

Annoying Music!

Love the story & think it is well performed apart from the unnecessary 'mood' music.

Edge of the seat suspense

A great story focussing on domestic abuse. But of course, there are the twists and turns you might expect from a Stephen King story, and this doesn't disappoint.

Really enjoyed this one.

From the start to very finish I did not want to stop listening.
Another great story to get hooked on. And you will never guess where it will take you.

struggled to finish

I love almost all of Stephen king's work, but this was pretty dire. slow and predictable. put it down twice to read something else.

Worth a listen

Overall I enjoyed the book, I prefer Blair brown's narration. As much as i enjoy stephen kings books, I do not enjoy his narration.
The music in this book is unecessery, doesn't do anything for the book.
Would recommend though.

real life meets fantasy

what an excellent read. Blair is an extraordinary narrator you get sucked right into the story of a battered housewife who from one drop of blood finds the courage to leave not a husband but the devil. It was a surprise to have Steven king himself reading along side as Norman you can't help but keep listening on.

Very Strange but Intriguing

Packed with tension and horrifying in parts, I mostly enjoyed the book. However I found the ending a little dissatisfying.

Enjoyed the story but the music was awful

This is an effective story and I was drawn into the narrative, however the music overlaid on the narration is distracting, jarring and unnecessary.
