About this listen
Ruger had his club and his brothers, and that's all he needed...until the night Krissi walked into his bar.
Something about her called to him. He knew it was a mistake, but he let her walk away. She haunted him. No other woman could would kill that craving. Krissi ran from her father and the life he chose. She should avoid the bar and the bikers inside, but Drifters pulled at her, and the tattooed and mysterious bartender could become an addiction if she wasn't careful.
When the Demented Souls business affects Krissi, her past and her family comes out. Now Ruger has to decide if he can trust her, not only with his secret but with his life.

Great start to the series!
I am intrigued by motorcycle club books, and when this came out I was very excited! I couldn't wait to start it ,and as I listened, was pleasantly surprised by the way this story develops. Ruger is part of the Demented Souls MC and when Krissi comes into their bar, he is taken with her. The attraction mutual, these two are meant to be together. Or are they? Krissi has a past that keeps haunting her. Running is not helping and when it catches up with her at the Demented Souls, things start to get dangerous. Will it be too much to keep these two apart? I loved Ruger. I found his character to be the alpha male type I love, the rugged, protective man that will do anything to keep his woman. Krissi is a little harder to like for me, but I think she is meant to be that way. Detached from so many, she is much more distant in her commitment. This book has twists and turns you will not expect, great secondary characters and ones I can't wait to have their own stories told.
Now the narration. DC Cole is one of my favorites, and each time I hear him, he gets better. His performance of this book is spot on, nailing Ruger down with a raspy, sexy voice when with Krissi, but a deadly voice when dealing with danger. He seamlessly flows from Ruger to Krissi and lets us flow with the story. I loved his portrayal of this book.

Very good listen
I liked this story very much. Great characters and entertaining plot with a surprise twist. I liked Krissy's silent strenght. She and Ruger were meant to be. Ruger's loyalty to her was unquestionable.
D. C. Cole's narration was yet again fabulous. I loved his voices both male and female and biker slang too. Brownie points for the quality of the recording.

Good MC story that isn't too angsty
This is a sweet, generally low angst story, which is interesting since it’s an MC book. Ruger is a very sweet hero- he is protective, loyal and kind, especially to Krissi. Krissi is a student but she also has a secret- her father is the President of another MC but in this case, a bad MC. The Demented Souls are made of good guys who may not be perfect but have a code of honor. I like the idea that these are good guys and I liked how Ruger and Krissi’s relationship evolved and they both learn to trust each other. There were issues with other MCs that the Demented Souls had to navigate so there was a little action and suspense but overall, it wasn't as angsty as many other MC stories I've read. That's good though- it was an easy going read that I really enjoyed. (by the way, the twist was great!)
DC Cole was good at narrating- he did a good job differentiating between the characters and his pacing was just right. I found it easy listening to him so I'll look forward to listening to any future story narrated by him.

I want more!
I just finished listing to Ruger and couldn't wait to write this review. This was a very well written MC romance. I've been listing to MC romance for many years, sadly, recently I've had more misses than hits. This was the first MC book that I liked in a while.
Melissa Stevens wrote an exceptional story with a satisfying plot and well-developed characters. Ruger was a classic alpha-male, protective but not overbearing and controlling. Krissi was both strong and independent with no flares for drama. I adored both characters. The communication between them was amazing, with no silly misunderstanding nor unnecessary drama.
The intimate scenes between Ruger and Krissi were beautifully written. Towards the end, there was a nice twist to the plot. I can't wait to listen to learn of the Demented Souls world and to see what's in store for the rest of the characters, Sadist, Crash, Tuck and Gizmo and etc.
D.C. Cole did an exceptional job narrating this audiobook, especially with the duel narration. I loved the voice he used for Ruger. He was on point and the listener could easily tell the characters apart.
I highly recommend this audiobook to all MC Romance listeners.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Holy twists Batman
Wow. Ruger was hot from the start and him and Krissi were electric. I loved their story!!
Ruger and Krissi meet when she targets his MC bar. She feels at home there and so she goes in orders a few drinks to take the edge off and then gets ready to leave when sparks fly with Ruger.
I felt like this story flowed nicely and had a good pace to it. I was surprised with Krissi being targeted and was very wrong when it was because of Ruger and not who she is.
Ok so I have to talk about this twist. This book got me. I never expected that and that was the last thing I expected.
Also I love D.C. Cole. His voice is the perfect raspy deep sexy you want in a males voice and I love when a man narrates a book like this one. It gives it just that much more. However I only gave 4 stars for his performance because there were quite a few times he would say “Rugger” instead of “Ruger” and that really distracted from the storyline for me. Otherwise great performance!
