Shakespeare's English

I don't believe anyone who has not studied Shakespeare's plays could understand let alone enjoy this story. It uses Shakespearean English all the way through which makes a little difficult to understand at times even for me and I love Shakespear

The master of alternative history strikes again!

Thoroughly believable stuff from Mr Turtledove. A gripping, well performed story bringing Will Shakespeare, Burbage, Kemp et al into centre stage in a plot to oust the hated Spanish occupation, and restore Queen Elizabeth to the throne. A well observed and amusing tale.

Wonderfully thought through Alternative History

I've listened to this book three times over, it's so full of twists and turns that I could probably listen another ten times more. Thoroughly recommended, especially if you're a Shakespeare fan, all manner of little gems crop up in their conversations. I've not read alternative history before, so this was a really great introduction.

Disappointing

I love Turtledoves books, but this was dull, drawn out and I couldn't wait for it to finish. definitrly not his best work.
