About this listen
Specially written to be used on the move and to be stopped and started with ease, this series is ideal for use on the train, in the car, or around the house - in fact anywhere, any time. By the end of this 4-hour, all audio course, the student will have a working vocabulary of some 400 essential words and phrases and will feel confident about speaking (and understanding!) Italian. Two bilingual coaches individually and jointly take students through this carefully structured, all-audio course with easy-to-understand texts, explanations, examples, and speaking practice. No books are used. No 'homework' is required. Everything is learned by listening and speaking.
Following the highly successful method of her previous books, the material is presented in the same light-hearted and entertaining style which has made Elisabeth Smith a market leader in language learning for the last 12 years.

Pleasant to listen the tutors. Amazing performance
This is my first Italian course. The narrators voices are great and pleasant to listen. Their British English is fascinating. I learned the basics of Italian and I am able to perform basic talks in various situations. I am however not fluent or anything like that but for the purpose of getting in to the Italian from the scratch it was a great guide. I would only suggest not to use the Italian singular formal "you" but I figured out the correct informal equivalent later and I just skipped their politeness. The tutors play and interact naturally which was crucial for me as I had a bad experience with Spanish by Michel Thomas. His smacking of lips and heavy breathing made me delete all lectures I purchased. Great book! Recommend.

Really helpful!
I have found this audio book really helpful. I have already learned a lot of words and I am sure they are going to be useful on my visit to Italy! I always wanted to learn Italian but all of the book were too basic and not useful to speak on everyday basics. This book helped me out a lot and now I can go and order staff from restaurant or ask for way back to my hotel. I would recommend this book to my family and friends but most importantly to those people who want to learn Italian quickly!

Dissappointing
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone once said we retain information best by seeing and seeing. I found that I seriously missed the written support for this language text. I hadn't appreciated how much was missing by buying the audio version from Audible instead of the CDs
Has Rush-Hour Italian: Teach Yourself put you off other books in this genre?
Yes. From Audible anyway. I'm going away to find a set of cds with a full course.
Any additional comments?
Please make it clear that the full course includes written background materiel and this is not available to download with this audio material.

Moves too quickly
In this course you are literally bombarded by information by two irritating narrators. You will absolutely pick up some very basic Italian by the end but whether or not the course enables one to use it in the right situation is another matter. Most of what is taught will be forgotten. No time is given to really revise what has been already learned and important words are constantly flung in the middle of chapters never to be mentioned again. For anyone with photographic memory this would be a joy but for us mere mortals it is nearby impossible to recollect an abstract word after hearing it only once. Did I mention that the narrators are irritating?

Too fast for beginners
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
This audio book was way too fast for beginners to the Italian language. There was insufficient repetition of key words and phrases. Insufficient time between asking you to repeat a phrase and them speaking it and a very 'shouty' man which was very off putting. Difficult to pause when you are on the move. Quite a stressful experience on my journey to work!
