Tender story
Great narration and a gorgeously written story full of pathos and wit. Really easy to listen to & sometimes reminiscent of holidays at the beach.

Absolutely beautiful
Loved this. It just got better and better. So relatable as a Middle Ages woman. Sobbed at the end. Couldn’t recommend enough.

just love the author's way of telling a a story
loved the mood of the book and how it made me feel, the message about how family doesn't have to be perfect, the way love sometimes feels too much, and above all, the way the story is told, with a sense of humor that makes me smile all the way

didnt quite live up to the reviews
perfectly serviceble novel, but didnt come close to the rave reviews in the papers. rather disappointing. the 'it's darker than it seems' moments were not a surprise. and the safe 'middle class family on holiday' moments were cloying. i read a lot of this genre... but for me, this author didnt deliver

Wonderful voice actress and overall a really good story about motherhood, marriage and family secrets
I dont really know if I trust Rocky. The main character. Shes phoney. It has so many layers. Like a sandwich. But its a brutal and beautiful story of motherhood, marriage and family.

Perfect and vivid
Listened thru once and then began again immediately. The narrator is magnetic and the story, sumptuous. Love this book. It’s my comfort book.
