About this listen
Sixteen-year-old Angela and her father are the last survivors on earth. She dreams of adventure and romance, but only finds it in books. In the confines of her garden paradise, she’s untouched by contaminants that caused the rest of the humanity to mutate into murderous beasts or die. But staying in the garden sure gets lonely. When a 17-year-old boy stumbles upon Angela’s home with news about a thriving community, his presence challenges everything she knew about the world. She dares to leave her garden for the first time to find a better home.
In the authoritarian society that she finds, the line between man and mutant is murkier than she expected. Secrets from Angela's past reemerge, and she learns life outside the garden isn't all it's cracked up to be. Her father is in danger, and the men tasked with protecting the settlement are extremely fond of murder.
With their lives on the line, can Angela create one last happy ending in a hopeless world?
Fans of dystopian societies, post-apocalyptic futures, diverse characters, fantasy, and coming-of-age adventures with heart will fall in love with this post-apocalyptic fairy tale.

Interesting story, but needs a little more...
Interesting story, but needs a little more character development. Review of audiobook. It took me a while to get into this book. The world building and plot were intriguing and I liked the personalities of the characters, especially Angela’s, but I felt that the characters and their relationships could have been developed further.
I was given a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

short but good
I enjoyed this little story. It was an interesting take on the dystopian theme. Our MC is pretty much transported into a world she doesn't understand at all and i love that fish out of water theme. The book was very short but i think the story line could've worked for a full 3 book series but it was a nice fun quick read.
The narration was good, the voice was pleasant.

Enjoyable needs a little fleshing out
I’m hovering between 3 and a half and 4 stars for this book. I feel like this book has a good premise but requires maybe a little fleshing out? I like the world that Angela lives in with her garden and the world that continues on when they reach the settlement. Angela is an innocent but well rounded character but I feel her relationship with Jesse is rushed. I want to know more about the backstories, more information about other characters and their views on the world surrounding them which the author even gave ideal opportunity to do so at many points with the lighthouses (something I loved.) I definitely think this author is one to look out for when the ideas are fully fleshed out as the fast paced plot to this story is so interesting and definitely well worth a read.
Not a huge fan of the narrator not sure if a couple of the characters were done by someone else or if they just slowed down their speaking but it was a little choppy at times. For a short story though it’s not an issue though.
I received a free audio copy of this book directly from the author for an honest review.

Dystopian future
Good y a novel with thought provoking questions about society, religion and authority models. Safe for teenagers to read, without concern from parents. Entertaining. I like the ending. Would lead on nicely to another book or leave as a stand alone novel.
