Summary
Being a spy isn’t for the faint at heart - especially for a brute American and the beautiful, cunning Brit....
Who am I? I’m Cole Carson, and I’m the best at what I do. Four years ago, the CIA forced me to babysit the young MI6 princess, Isabella Donnelly. It was beneath my pay grade and skill set, but I like to think I taught her everything she knows - because I’m just that good.
Turns out there’s a first time for everything, because I was wrong about her. She pissed me off and challenged me in ways no one had before. I not only ate my words, I choked those suckers down with a bottle of whiskey when someone ripped her away from me. Now she’s back, and no one can know she’s here. And by no one, I mean all of the Western world. I’m determined to clear her name and make her mine. It’s a tall order so it’s a damn good thing I’m me.
A dare....
Okay, fine. It wasn’t a dare. More like a wager, laid at my feet by none other than Cole Carson. It’s all semantics at this point; I’m stuck between the threat of prison and my arsehole American, whom I just can’t shake. Trust me, I’ve tried.
I have no one to blame but my stupid, stupid heart. I’m no princess and certainly don’t need a prince charming. I can kick arse all on my own, and it’s what I came here to do. Taking a bullet was not on my agenda…neither was waking up in the hospital with Cole glaring at me. But I’m here, and I’m nothing if not determined. But that dare…I can’t focus on that until I clear my name. If Cole wants to tag along, so be it. I'm a Donnelly. We don’t give up nor do we bow down to anyone.

Such an amazing series!
Love, love, love this series of books! Funny, Exciting, Spicy and a Love Story - what's not to love?!
As I have listened to and loved the first 4 books, there was no question that I wouldn't also listen to this one, however, as an English listener, I was apprehensive when one of the main characters was also English. Although brilliant at what they do, some American writers and narrators do cause a lot of us English listeners to wince, with their liberally scattered and often misunderstood "British-isms" and mispronunciations.
I have heard Jason Clarke do an English accent before and he always does a brilliant job, but I didn't know what Kit Swann would do with an English accent. OK, she was a little bit too "Downton Abbey" at times, but for the most part, her accent was really good, and easy to listen to. Only a very few instances where she used the American pronunciation of a word, not realising we English say it differently. Seriously impressive work by both narrators, needing to narrate so much of the book in a foreign accent.
Huge Kudos to Brynne Asher for her understanding of an English character and our different words for things too. Right down to Bella correcting anyone who referred to her as British, and telling them she was English. (We always refer to ourselves as English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish, never British 😊).

Amazing book
Wow this audible was amazing. The narrators were perfect and I’m English so the euphemisms were very good and accurate. Lol. The whole story captivated me from the moment it started. Highly recommend this book and audible. Cannot wait for Book 6 Souls now.

So disappointed
I adore this series, but I'm having trouble getting into this book. I can only listen for a few minutes before I feel frustrated at the appalling English accent.
I'm determined to finish it though as the plots are always great

Appalling English accent
As with all the books in this series, the plot and characters of this book are fab, lovely little love story…
Unfortunately the narrator’s awful English accent makes the experience as comforting as listening to nails on a chalkboard… incredibly disappointed by this 5th in the series
Would give 0/5 stars for performance if I could
