About this listen
Sheridan Hendley, an amateur sleuth, never imagined a tranquil morning following a stormy night would turn into a crime scene at the local high school soccer field. As news of the murder spreads, the community is gripped with a sense of unease. The victim's son shows up at Sheridan’s door confused and seeking answers.
Delving into the victim’s recent activities and background leads to a disgruntled customer and family secrets. As Sheridan digs deeper, she finds herself gradually connecting the dots. Only the killer watches on as Sheridan becomes more determined to help the son and find the killer, before she becomes the next victim.
A short cozy mystery, this is the eighth in the Sheridan Hendley Series. It can easily be listened to as a stand-alone mystery.

I enjoyed the narration of Alyssa Baumann , who brings out the mystery and suspense.
A shooting at the school has everybody panicking, and rightly so as one person is dead and no sign of the shooter. The dead man has two children at the school, though not in the same year as Maddie and her friends, Sheridan can't help herself and gets involved. Especially when the dead mans son comes to her asking for help. First Sheridan needs to find out why he was at the school in the first place. By helping will it make her and her family a target?

Nice short story.
I enjoyed this short novella very much. It's the first in the new series I have listened to but knowing the characters from the previous series helped. Once again Sheridan ends up investigating a seemingly pointless murder at the local school. Alyssa Baumann does a grand job of the narration. Recommended listen.
I was kindly given a copy of the book by the author and leave this honest review.

Another School Shooting
This is another school shooting but it's not your typical type, thank goodness. It's a scary world we live in to think the subject has it's own title because shootings at schools should just not happen but the author has written a well thought out plot to cover the difficult and upsetting subject. This was done by having the only victim a parent. Which leads to some interesting questions of why he was there? As well as many others. It did seem pretty obvious who the killer was and I didn't really understand why the police weren't more actively looking for the suspect but then again if they had the story would have been even shorter. This story is fairly on the short side but worth a listen to anyway. The characters are a delight and I love how they have all become a family. Sheridan still finds time to help at the animal shelter providing some more drama and clues. I can't wait for the next book because changes are a coming.
A shooting at the school has everybody panicking but it is quickly over, with one person dead and no sign of the shooter. The dead man has two children at the school and even though they are not in the same year as Maddie and her friends, Sheridan can't help but get involved. Especially when the mans son turns up at her door with questions and asking for help. Help Sheridan can't give until she works out why he was at the school in the first place. Can she give him the answers he so desperately need? Or by doing so is she making her and her family a target?
I like the narrator. She is talented enough to make even a short story feel like an experience.

good
A good if short addition to the series. A shooting at the High school panics everyone and sends Sheridan on another case. The story was well written but the culprit was obvious and a cliché. Alyssa Baumann is a new narrator for the series but you barely notice which is good. Overall not the best but still a good read.
