Summary
I've already mentally prepared myself to kill the screaming, murderous monster in the cage outside our camp.
I'm used to it. It's what I do here. Kill monsters and other people.
This monster, Seraph, is particularly unstable—has been since the moment he arrived from Collector Mary's monster menagerie to the west, where the military stashed him away. He's in pain. I can see it. But he's not a mindless beast. Not like some of the others think.
When I start guarding him in his cage every night, I begin to see the person beneath the agony that tortures his every waking moment. I begin to see who Seraph could have been if he hadn't been twisted into this monstrous creature.
I realize that I wouldn't be able to bring myself to kill him, even for his own sake, but it doesn't matter anyway. He's already dying, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Not even when new visitors at our raider camp bring with them secrets about Seraph. Secrets the military has tried to hide. Secrets that reveal the true extent of the horror he's been put through.
And now… Now, I will kill anyone who tries to hurt him again.
Seraph is book six of the Monstrous series, a post-apocalyptic m/m fantasy series that features monsters and human men falling in love. It is best to listen to the series in order. Intended for mature listeners.

This book has my heart
I adored this story. Seraph and Lilac have a very special place in my heart. Parts of this are so painful but the ending is beautiful. I didn’t enjoy the narration though. The narrator pronounced Seraph like Sarah many times and it threw me off and Seraphs voice didn’t sound like how I imagined. But the story as a whole is phenomenal. Glad I read it first.

Absolutely fantastic 👏👏👏
Wow. This story was absolutely fantastic and I loved every second of it. I adore these characters and this book had lots and lots of interactions with previous main characters which made this book my very favourite in this series. And here’s me thinking nothing could ever top Soul Eater. Wyn is still the best beastie 🤗💚. The narration was superb.

Standing ovation - best audio performance of the series!
With every beastie voice Michael Lesley performs for these series, I fall in love with them all a little more. How he takes into account their personalities, their appearances and even their species into account when performing their voices. I think this is my favorite audio monster series now. Seraph has always been one of the favorite but Michael’s performance of Seraph is spectacular.
I adore finding out how each new pair will sound, how their dialogues with each other appear. And as for the raiders and the humans in the series, it’s absolutely incredible how many distinct voices Michael creates. He is just so talented I am struggling for words. Lilac’s voice has been my favorite human voice in the series and that lazy drawl is so stunningly done.
Together, Lilac’s voice and the incredible hisses and words (English and other worldly) that we hear from Seraph via Michael’s performance jus took my breath away. This was such an experience to listen to. One of the favorite books in the series performed so beautifully by Michael Lesley.

Spectacular
Audio reread: still amazing! Seraph is a sweet baby angel. But also, pecans?! In this post-apocalypse economy?!
Michael Lesley's narration continues to be nothing short of spectacular. Every character in this ever-growing behemoth cast has a unique voice, and I never question who is speaking.
I always say my favorite book in this series is whichever one I read most recently, so right now that crown goes to Seraph!
Lilac and Seraph together as a pairing works so freaking well, I can't get over it. The way Lilac is always focused on ensuring Seraph feels accepted for who he is as a person, and not as a "thing", is so wholesome from our resident machete-wielding bae. That same respect is then given by Seraph back to Lilac in the form of the best possessiveness and protectiveness. This is something Lilac has been missing since the deaths of both of his parents left him as an orphan in one of the human cities during his childhood.
Compared to Moth, this book focuses more on character arcs & development, versus a lot of overarching plot. But there is still a decent amount of interaction and cameos by some of our other favorite pairings.
