About this listen

Denmark, 1807

When Lieutenant Richard Sharpe arrives in Copenhagen on a secret mission to help stop a war, he finds a city swarming with spies and deceit. Yet the French forces are gathering, their eyes on the Danish navy’s impressive battle fleet: one that could replace every ship they lost at Trafalgar.

The city burns, attacked by the French and besieged by the British. And discovering that he’ll have to make his own rules, fighting through the shadowy maze of friends and foes, is Sharpe . . .

Great Book. Nothing really goes Sharpe's way but will work out in the end. Can't wait to start the next book.

Great book.

Excellent storyline brilliantly narrated by Rupert Farley. Great characters including of course, the dogged Richard Sharpe who never gives up! Really enjoyed it!

You know what you're getting with Sharpe.

There's something comforting about the predictability of Richard Sharpe's adventures. Somebody wrongs him, he gets revenge, triumphs, wins the heart of the lady, all while navigating pivotal moments in military history. I can't get enough of it.

Another cracking story

Sharpe's innate gallantry and tenderness for women and children is in sharp contrast with his callous and cold blooded killing of his enemies.

Another fantastic book in the Sharpe series

If however you happen to be danish, you will probably cringe at the pronunciations of all the danish names, street names and the the few passages in danish. But it isn't a major problem, just a source of laughter and slight confusion :D

Wonderful escapism, some of Mr Cornwell's best.

I'm a Bernard Cornwell fan. I have enjoyed almost everything he has written. Sharpe sits along side Thomas of Hookton (The Grail Quest) and Uhtred of Bebbanburg (The Saxon Chronicles) as one of my favourite action men. If you are not familiar with these characters I would say they are well worth anyone's credit to know.

extremely enjoyable

fantastic narration as with the other books in the series so far. A glimpse into history's lesser known engagements.
