About this listen
She's gonna get them all killed.
So they locked her away.
Laylea has been hiding her entire life. She's never been to school. She's never had a friend her own age. She's never known anyone else like her.
All that is about to change.
In a world hidden from humans and wyrdos alike, shifters are still recovering from a vicious plot to destroy them all. They have two laws they live by now:
1) Hide.
2) Protect the children at all costs.
Laylea has just broken rule number one. But she's only 14. So, they're sending her to school. Where she's going to learn....
Any place can be a prison.
The Lincoln Park Shifter School: not your grandma's uber-secret, underground academy.

A brilliant beginning to a new series
It's great to hear an author narrate their own work. Obviously the skills to write a novel are different to those who narrate but here we have someone with both skills. And it really works. Obviously the author know the work and their intent and this comes across.
We have a good main character and her brother and school friends are also really good solid characters.
We focus in this story on Laylea's first experience of a school having being in hiding all her life. I love how she's exposed to the shifter world first but then they have limited experience of the wider supernatural world which Laylea has lived in. The story itself hints at larger bad guys and we have some characters mentioned that I hope to see in the next book as they are set up well. It all comes across well with a good story and world and good characters.
Really good.

Unique and gripping!
This book was unique and riveting and should not be missed. Gwendolyn Druyor's imaginative take on the world of shifters is original and refreshingly different, and I loved every minute of it, and can't wait for the next book to see what's next in this series.

Enjoyable listen
This is a wonderful story that I listened to while driving around. It takes you away to a city with many paranormal beings. The narrator whom is also the author tells the story wonderfully. I hope there are more books about the characters from this book!

A lovely fun story
I received this audiobook free to give an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. It took a little while to get into it, and it was confusing occasionally, but it was also fun and enjoyable and really absorbing. A nice length too.
The narration was fantastic. I was wary when I saw it was read by the author, but it was perfect. She brought the characters to life in a lovely way and it was a pleasure to listen to.
