Summary

For one night she had everything.

Pro snowboarder Stella Lazarus has always loved her brother's best friend. But the one time she tried to show him, she was shot down faster than you can say "competitor disqualified".

Until one blissful night in Tahoe, when Stella finally gets her man.

Or does she? In the morning, Stella and Bear wake up to horrible news. The sort that sends them racing back to Vermont, and straight into the arms of guilt and family obligations.

For all of Bryan “Bear” Barry’s life, three natural laws held true: His best friend Hank was destined for greatness, Hank’s sister Stella was off-limits, and Bear would always manage to negotiate the rocky paths that life threw his way. In the space of two days, that’s all shattered.

Bear can't believe he slipped up so badly with Stella. Even if his best friend wasn't lying broken in a hospital bed, it would still be unforgivable. Determined to do better, he devotes himself to his friend's recovery, denying himself the person he loves. And the very thing he needs.

Another great audiobook from Sarina.

This is the final book in the Gravity series and it’s a beautiful brother’s best friend romance. Stella is Hank from Book 2’s little sister and trying to make her mark as an elite snowboarder. This book touches on the inequalities between men’s and women’s snowsports with Stella struggling to get sponsorship when her brother had the sponsors knocking down his door. Bear is Hank’s best mate but has always kind of been in his shadow. He’s such a great friend but has low self-worth. It was refreshing for the male MC to be the one thinking he wasn’t worthy. The chemistry between these two sizzles beneath the surface and then there’s that one night where they let loose, but Bear doesn’t want to deal with Hank finding out so brushes Stella off.

We see the feelings growing and the dynamic between these two changing until they can’t deny it any longer, they just want to be together. There’s some delicious sneaking around, and the moment of discovery that goes better than expected.

I loved all the snowboarding lingo used and the cute little references with craft beer named after mountain terms - The Switchback. It’s these little things that show the detail Sarina goes into when writing her books. You can be assured of a great romance, but she also writes all the details so well. The beginning of this book runs on the same timeline as part of book 2, and it was nice seeing events from another perspective.

Emma is one of my favourite female narrators, and she does such a great job as Stella. We really feel the fight in Stella, and she gives us a perfect all-round performance. Noel is a new narrator to me, and I definitely warmed to him. He showed us just how gooey Bear is on the inside.

A fantastic audiobook and another great story from Sarina.
