About this listen

To stop the end of the world, they must defy a god.

Three epic books in one audio bundle full of dark magic, war, unforgettable characters, and political intrigue.

Long ago, powerful sorcerers stole the power of a god. Only the courage and sacrifice of great heroes stopped them from conquering the known world.

They thought it was over. But the god who was robbed so long ago remained. He swore that long after the heroes were dead, when his power returned, he would have his vengeance on all of humanity.

Now, the time of his prophecy is at hand. A band of elite desert warriors crosses the sea, hoping faith and courage will be enough to turn aside the coming apocalypse. Their leader, Prelate Yazid Valerian, seeks the mythical city of sorcerers.

There, he believes, he will find allies and answers. But the city has been hidden for centuries for a reason. And he never expects that he and his men may spark the very doom they seek to prevent....

Brilliant

My first book on Audible,
and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT!

Slow to start, but once the wheels were in motion the story was amazing. Large character base but I could picture them all so well.
Great fantasy novel I loved it.
My only complaint was it ended! looking forward to more from the Author.

Good book but hard to follow

I found this book quite good but at times really struggled to keep up with the focus on different characters changing. The story itself is good but it felt a bit rushed to get to the conclusion after a long and detailed lead up.

Slow and confusing at times

Author takes a while to build up the story and you'll only know at the end of Book 1, why it's titled Sins of the Father. Throughout the 3 books, listening to them can get confusing to figure out what is happening as author jumps from scenarios that at times just doesn't make much sense until later. Narrator was great but story is not as compelling as I was expecting.

Good Listen

This is one of those books where a list of the characters would have been helpful. There were so many going back and forth, one tended to get lost at times and lose the plot.

That aside, it was a slow start, but perseverance paid off as it was really quite good. New cultures, Intrigue, politics; everything to make up a good listen.

An enjoyable listen

I feel many things were left unfinished but an enjoyable listen with great characters and pretty good world building

Unbearable Narration.

The narration is delivered, wherever an emotion is being signalled to the listener, in a tinny, hysterical, strident shriek. I found it impossible to focus on the story because of this and gave up a couple of hours in.

“It seemed normal at first, then mesmerising, then sinister. I decided to talk about it at sinister.”

I enjoyed this book, but I found that there was so much going on, a slight distraction left me confused as to what was going on. There’s a lot of characters and intrigue to keep track of. But overall a good story!
The narrator is a good storyteller with great pacing and voices. Due to the amount of characters though, I found some of the voices were quite similar. Add this to the fact that some of the names themselves have very similar pronunciation, this again added to my confusion.
Obviously my confusion could just have been my state of mind at the time. :)
This is my honest opinion on a free review copy.

A deep and complex story

I recieved a review copy of this book. It provides a deep and complex story line that reveals more and more as the book goes on. It is well narrated and my only issue was in the transition between the three original books, great changes occurred with the story that I found hard to follow between them.
