Even in his heyday in wrestling, Jacobs was inspired to pursue politics by popular libertarian figures such as former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, Republican Senator Rand Paul, Fox News' Judge Andrew Napolitano and others, and that led him to fulfill his own political ambitions. The wrestler-turned-politician hasn't hung up his wrestling boots yet. Politics is a contact sport and Jacobs is using his wrestling skills in that arena. Jacobs supports President Trump and his agenda, and is implementing conservative policies in Tennessee.

Nitro is a story about much more than WCW and the Monday Night Wars. It is a story of an era, a time in which the media and cultural landscape precipitated - and later supported - pro wrestling's mainstream popularity. It is a story of how a company made in the image of an intuitively brilliant risk-taker betrayed its original promise. It is a story of how a handful of men, each struggling with their own limitations, facilitated a public obsession that changed television forever.

Unflinching, thick-skinned, and domineering, McMahon has ultimately outlasted all of his competition and come out on top of every wrestling war he has waged. In 1995, he very nearly lost.

Summary
There are few people who have been in the wrestling business longer than Jim Ross. And those who have made it as long as he has (half a century to be exact) probably made enemies or burned bridges. But that's just not JR.
Slobberknocker is the story of how an Oklahoman farm kid with a vivid imagination and seemingly unattainable dreams became "The Voice of Wrestling" to record TV audiences and millions of fans around the world.
Jim opens up about his life as an only child on a working farm, who became obsessed with professional wrestling having first seen it on his grandparents' TV. Even though the wrestling business was notoriously secretive and wary of "outsiders", he somehow got a foot in the door to start a historic career, one where he held almost every job in the business - from putting up the ring to calling matches, from driving his blind, drunk boss toward revenge to consoling two naked 600-pound brothers in the shower room after a rough match.
With all those adventures and responsibilities, he's also recognized as the man who built and nurtured a once-in-a-generation talent roster that took the WWE to new heights, including "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Brock Lesnar, and The Rock, to name a few. Listeners will finally get the opportunity to hear never-before-told stories about the politics, wackiness, and personalities of all the biggest stars.
But this isn't just a wrestling story. It's a story about overcoming adversity and achieving your dreams, as success did not come without significant costs and unforeseen challenges to JR, including multiple bouts of severe facial paralysis called Bell's palsy. Currently he is the host of the podcast The Ross Report.
Any fan of wrestling- from the territory days to today - will be enthralled with stories from the road and behind the scenes. Slobberknocker is the first time Ross tells his story - and you don't want to miss it!

Slobber knocker
I really enjoyed this book.
Having it read by the author isn’t always good to hear but Jim Ross really made me want to keep listening (just like he does whenever he’s doing his announcing for any promotion).
The performance is essential to me because audio is a huge part of my life, I’m blind and most of the books haven’t been available in accessible formats until recently.
I gave this rating because JR’s performance kept my attention throughout and to me that’s what audiobooks should always do, just like the original printed books are meant to do.
I look forward to the sequel.

A great listen that takes time to find its feet
As an avid WWF/WWE fan before and during the Attitude era - and one who has lost interest in wrestling completely since - this was a thoroughly enjoyable trip down memory lane.
You can almost hear Good Ol' JR grow in confidence as the book proceeds, so stick with it past the first 10 or so quick chapters as Ross finds his feet. When he's in full flight this book is wonderful. The anecdotes vary enormously and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the gritty business of the wrestling circuits of the 70s and 80s.
If you love (or just once loved) wrestling then this is a great listen.

Finally able to enjoy Audible
I am somebody who struggles with audio books.
I often lose focus which is a fault of my own and rarely the narrator's.
However, Jim Ross has a Southern smooth voice that I could listen to all day and it has brought me back to the medium; I revelled in listening to his tales, many of which are short, snappy and compelling. The personalities involved are often larger than life and the stories often stranger than fiction.
JR is humble, personable and wise and makes for an excellent storyteller. I look forward to listening to the sequel.

Better than it should be.
It is awkward listening to JR read his story at first. He is such a natural story teller it feels odd listening to him read as opposed too his free flowing podcast. Excellent stories will carry you through easily and it isn't the worst reading I've heard by far. More inside shop than I thought the company man would go and better than it should be lol.

Somewhat disappointed
Jim is the greatest announcer of all time for sure! I felt the book didn’t really go in depth about the wrestling business. I wanted more stories and behind the scenes stuff. It only covers his career up until WrestleMania 15. To Jim’s credit his career was so long so it would be hard to cover everything. Maybe a second book coming later? Hopefully! I would recommend this book for the wrestling fan who grew up listening and watching Jim. Over all I would give this book a 6 out of 10.

Positively Ruined for All Other Audiobooks
I am a lifelong WWE fan (somewhat unusual for a 35 year old female) and yet, so much of JR's story was unfamiliar to me. However, his voice was one that narrated a lot of happy memories from my childhood and I was excited to hear him voice over his own story. I enjoyed every moment of this book, but the icing on the cake was hearing that familiar voice, the intonation, the excitement, the joy and the sadness. What a treat! By a mile, the best Audible purchase I've ever made. We love you, JR!

Insightful autobiography
Mr. Ross delivers an open, honest perspective of a life lived.
The way he owns the regrets of his life are valuable lessons to those seeking to be successful.
He also provides us with his path to success but states clearly that his path isn't everyone's path.
The admission of the failures and lessons he was privileged to learn forged his path to discovering where he belonged.
So many of us do not land where we feel we were meant to be. Mr. Ross has.
Thank you to all involved in the process of bringing this autobiography to us.
