Summary

A beautiful story of love and second chances, with a remarkable family at its heart, from the Sunday Times best-selling author.

So much can change in half a lifetime....

Then

At 15, George is the foster brother Leah never asked for. As the angry, troubled boy struggles to come to terms with his circumstances, Leah finds herself getting drawn closer to him.

Theo’s wealthy family have mysteriously pulled him out of boarding school, and he’s now enrolled at the local state school with Leah and George. When their worlds collide that summer, the three teenagers form a bond they believe will be unbreakable. But life doesn’t always go to plan....

Now

Shocking news brings Leah back to Yorkshire, baby daughter in tow. But Emilie’s father, Theo, isn’t with them, and George has unexpectedly returned. After half a lifetime, have they healed the scars of their pasts? Will coming back home set their hearts in a different direction?

Truly Beautiful

Wow I wasn't sure if I was going to like this story as I usually read gritty crime dramas. The book is absolutely beautiful. Gentle story of a wonderful family and love. had me crying at the end. Loved all the characters and was surprised at the twist. The narrator has a wonderful voice which really made listening to this book a pleasure. Will look at more books by this author.

Really enjoyed this

This was a heartfelt story, I very much enjoyed the perspective of foster carers family, and hope this encourages others to explore this.

The narration was very good, and enjoyable, although at times I could hear her swallowing.

Great start. Disappointing second half

Loved the first half of the book. Great characters even though a little fairytale like. The ‚twist‘ in the middle of the book made the whole story a bit pointless. The whole second half of the book felt like an unnecessary epilog.

Simply stunning

I adored this book! It's beautifully written, it talks about important issues with sensitivity, the characters feel real and you get swept away in their lives. The narrator was incredible too, such a captivating performance. It's been a long time since I've had a book I just want to binge listen to, I'm really sad it's over!

Page Toon and Heather long are the perfect pair

I love Page Toons books, she writes with so much compassion and detail without it becoming long winded. I also feel her books get better and better each time. Heather Long‘s portrayal of the story is so on point, it makes such a compelling listen. Finished this book within 24hours.
