About this listen

A high-octane thrill ride from USA Today best seller C. D. Reiss.

Theresa Drazen wants to know one thing: Is there something wrong with her? Because from what she can see, she has money, brains, and a body that does the job. Yet she keeps getting shelved - most recently by her fiancé, who happens to be the DA.

And she'll get over it, really. No problem. She'll just have a nice, short encounter with a mysterious Italian named Antonio who may or may not be involved with some kind of alleged criminal activity...blah, blah....

Let's call a spade a spade: He's a mobster.

Let's face a few more facts. He's hot. He's smart. And if anyone breathes on her the wrong way, he's got no problem beating their head against a Porsche until they're willing to lick up their own vomit to make it stop.

Just about everything about that turns her on.

Yeah. There's something wrong with her.

Mature audiences. Rough sex. Dirty talk. Criminal activity. Cursing. Fisticuffs. Closed course. Professional driver. Do not try this at home.

Amazing!

This book had me gripped right from the start. Mindy Kennedy was perfect as the main character, Theresa Drazen. I was already addicted to this world after listening to The Submission Series by CD Reiss. Her writing is absolutely incredible. This series follows on from there and I couldn’t stop listening to it. CD Reiss is now one of my top five authors. I couldn’t download book two quickly enough!

Spin cycle would be more interesting

I did not enjoy this book. The MCs are unworthy of the 7hrs spent listening. You cannot like them, they are trite and shallow; there is nothing to make you become invested in the story in any way. This is no action, just dialogue.

At 2.36, when she drives away having made up her mind that consorting with this mafioso is stupid, is when anything sensible in this story ends. The sex is dull and predictable, there is no real passion. The story lacks fundamental descriptions to spark the imagination to allow you to see the characterisations or events.

Mindy Kennedy's narration is the only cohesive force keeping this story listenable. If I wasn't on lockdown, I would've given up on it altogether after hour 1.
