Summary
They say you can't go home again...oh, if only that were true.
Thanks to a series of unfortunate events - and one backstabbing frenemy - home is exactly where I'm headed. Back to Winterspell Lake, the small community in Eastern Washington where magic runs rampant and humans are outlawed.
Faster than you can say hocus pocus I'm unpacking my bags and settling into the guest room of my parents' house, trying to ignore the creeping sensation that I'll never break free again.
The one thing Winterspell has going for it is the sweets shop in the center of town, a bakery filled with magical creations designed to enchant the taste buds and charm even the pickiest of connoisseurs. Luckily for me, I get the friends and family discount since my parents own the famous Sugar Shack. If I want room and board, I have to frost cupcakes and sling macaroons with the rest of the fam.
Unfortunately, things in Winterspell aren't all sugar cookies and rainbows. According to the local news, a dangerous sea serpent has claimed the lives of three missing girls. The journalist in me has to have a look for myself, and what I find is something far more deadly.
Something that makes me wish I'd stayed in the bakery.

Enjoyable listen
Really enjoyed this book ‘Sprinkles and Sea Serpents’ I’ve read this author before and I’m never disappointed. Narrator is perfect and very easy to listen too. A cosy witch story with a hint of mystery.

As advertised. A fun cosy modern fantasy adventure with romantic undertones.
As advertised. A fun cosy modern fantasy adventure with romantic undertones. A secret witching society, very much like our own, except where magic is the norm. Warm hearted fun with talking animals. who could resist.

A sprinkle of magic
I enjoyed this new to me author and her delightful cast of characters. Rosella is a great main character, especially with her unusual powers. What makes her such an out cast is what makes her so interesting to the listener. I mean who doesn't wish they could understand what there pet is thinking. I loved the elderly owl, who was a nice addition. Winterspell is a witch town that is very different to the normal cosy mysteries, in that humans can't find it, so there is no hiding magic or mythology creatures. There is also no standing over cauldrons casting spells but the witch uses earth elements instead. The story flows nicely with a little bit of romance drama thrown in. I had worked out who the killer was, so no surprise or twist there but it was still a fun listen and a series I will be joining again.
Rosella returns home after breaking up with her finance and losing her job. Working in the family bakery isn't what she wants to do with her life but it might give her a chance to save money. The news that three woman have disappeared sparks her curiosity but it is the news that a sea serpent is living in the lakes and is being blamed for there deaths that has her doing her own investigation. Especially after speaking with the serpent who has been sentenced to death. Can Rosella save the creature by finding out what is really going on?
I liked the narrator. I have heard her narrate a number of stories from different authors and always find she does a good job of helping you picture the characters you are listening about and make it entertaining at the same time.
