About this listen
Wounded in the Gulf War, Geordie Sharp, a sergeant in the SAS, returns to Hereford to find his home life in tatters. As he trains with Northern Ireland Troop, a murder in his family fires him with personal hatred of the IRA. Posted to Belfast, he discovers that his adversary is Declan Farrell, a leading player in the Provisional IRA. Sharp sets out to stalk and kill his man.
© Chris Ryan; (P) Random HouseCritic reviews
"Tough, high-testosterone stuff, gripping." ( Glasgow Herald)
"Ryan has come up with a big-balled romp that's just dying to be read in the company of a beer, a sun lounger, and a holiday in the Mediterranean." ( Maxim)

Mediocre at best.
I prefer mcnabs fiction tbh. This didn't seem at all realistic, names, methods and chacters just seemed fake

Good book but not long enough
Brilliant book really got me hooked but as soon as that happened it ended. If this book was longer it would of got 5 stars

Excellent story
story holds your attention. Very well portrayed characters. Held interest all through. Ending came to abrupt and left you hanging. Unless for some reason not all book was downloaded!

Too short bad narration
The story appears to stop half way after 2hr45 and you have to buy the next book to get the rest. Also seems to be narrated by what sounds like an elderly gnome with a very poor Geordie accent that he forgets about after an hour then remembers for the last half an hour

### VERRY POOR ###
Only 3 chapters and the conclusion is to buy the next book.
I have read several Chris Ryan books and been impressed, don't know what went wrong here.

dated
The title says it all. Dated and laughable to anyone who knows anything about the facts. His Iraq war book was ripped apart by BBC research so would this one if anyone could be bothered.

Too short, ends too quick
What disappointed you about Stand By, Stand By?
The website suggested it was the full story 13 hours or so when I purchased the book however it all ended very quickly leaving the end open. I am not going to buy the next book.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
What ending?
What aspect of Christian Rodska’s performance might you have changed?
He does a good job
