Summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

When the Jedi Order falls, the Inquisitors rise.

From the aftermath of Order 66 comes a new group of former Jedi, each with their own reason to serve the Empire under Darth Vader. Among them is Iskat, who survived the destruction of her old Order to claim a new destiny in the Force. Iskat joins the Inquisitors in the hope of uncovering her hidden past that the Jedi refused to share with her.

Incredible prequel story

Absolutely loved this. I’ve listened to about 30+ books in SW on audible and this is up there. Really cool story.

More like this

Certainly need an inquisitor series for all known inquisitors. There’s room to expand their numbers here also and great opportunities to work with. Great book, great potential. Grand Inquisitor story next or fifth brothers.

More than what I expected

I was questioning whether this should be my first to listen to, but decided that it would be a great start. it's so well written, showing the deep emotions behind a character whilst describing the setting and making me shiver in the darkest of moments.

true to form but left wanting.

SPOILER FREE
I really did enjoy this book it was such an original idea and unique take on both the light and dark side of the force.
some of the characters I'll admit are a tad shallow but mainly because of the immense overshadow of main characters.
my biggest gripe however is in my opinion the way the author chose to squeeze this new character into canon.
Rather than find again interesting and unique ways for her to skirt the clones wars/ rebel shows, Instead a cheap copout.dispite that still good and worth a pickup.
the voice over is 10/10 that lady is passionate about her work.

Good but slow to get going

A good story line with another perspective of the Star Wars purge. I prefer the darker Star Wars stories as a rule. I do think the first chunk of the book took a little longer to get going, focussing to much on building the character rather than drama or action. However that is just my opinion.

was trolly happy with this book the character had a back story unlike Rey skywalker 🙄 Iskat is a killing machine and excellent depth I wish there would be more on her but now I guess not..

Truly excellent

This one is in my top five of all Star Wars novels that I've completed so far. Up there with Dark Disciple, Force Unleashed and Kenobi.

This has plenty of action. But, it's also about identity and what happens when you truly accept yourself.

The most interesting parts of Skat's inner world, though, were the many, many lies she had to tell herself to rationalise her behaviour. So many times she'd say something to herself and you almost wonder if she's delusional! But, at the same time, seeing the journey she goes on, you fully understand how the Jedi order could be seen by some as a shallow dogmatic cult that didn't really suit every child with force sensitivity.

The choices made by the order actually seem pretty cruel. And without any significant time with the fan favourites like Obi-wan, it's easy to not feel TOO bad when Order 66 comes around.

If you enjoy books about the Sith and the dark side of the force I think this one is a must-read.

A great new angle

I really enjoyed this book, it was engaging and told an interesting side to the clone wars and the Jedi.

Excellent Story

I didn't realise until the book progressed that this book was about the red skinned female inquisitor from the 2017 Vader comics, and also features the black skinned male Twi'lek inquisitor who she ran off from Vader with. It's a great addition to their story and also adds a lot to the overall story of Star Wars. I also enjoyed getting to hear more from the point of view of the Jedi during the battle of Geonosis and the beginning of the Clone War. I wasn't expecting too much as I've always preferred the Legends books, but I was pleasantly surprised by this story.
