Summary

A mysterious letter alluding to a secret in her parents' past brings Genevieve Woodward back to her Blue Ridge Mountains hometown, but she's also in need of a break from a high-profile career that has left her dangerously burned out and concealing a powerful secret of her own. When she wakes inside an unfamiliar cottage to find the confused owner staring down at her, she can no longer ignore the fact that she needs help.

Sam Turner has embraced his sorrow and his identity as an outsider. The solitary, disciplined life he lives on his historic farm is the life he's chosen for himself. The last thing he wants is to rent his cottage to a woman as troubled as she is talkative. Yet, he can't force himself to turn her away right when she needs him most.

As Genevieve researches her family's history and her and Sam's emotions deepen, they will have to let go of the facades and loneliness they've clung to and allow light to illuminate every hidden truth.

Truly inspirational

This story is far, far more than a romance novel. It is about suffering and the wonder of forgiveness, about truth and true healing, and ultimately it’s about grace and the transformative power of love. Thank you Becky Wade. You have a truly inspirational gift.

Wow amazing start to a promising series.

I am going to start this review by saying this is a tough review to write because nothing I say can really do justice to how good this book actually is.

I will try my best not to give any main plot points away as I write this as this is a book you need to read. If you’re a Christian like myself it will have a very profound affect on you however even if not again it’ll still leave you with a profound affect.

Firstly we’ll talk about the characters in the book, the book focuses on two main characters Genevieve and Sam. Genevieve is a very successful bible study author and speaker I have to say at first I did not like her character given what she did for a living the life she lived and lies she told did not match what she was trying to preach to her followers also nobody is perfect however that’s how she tried to portray herself by keeping secrets. Sam is an Australian who’s moved to America to get away from a event in his past and leads a life of solitude concentrating on managing his farm and restaurant. I have to say I loved Sam from the start despite what he found out about Genevieve early on in the book he still shown compassion for her and against his better judgement helped her out despite what her past brought up for him. He was a fantastic main character and his compassion and kindness was amazing given what he’d been through.

Now for the story. Genevieve ends up sleeping in Sam’s cottage without knowledge of even doing it. This is what finally makes her realise she needs to kick her habit once and for all and feels that renting Sam’s cottage could be just the place she needs to kick the habit and get clean. Against his better judgement Sam agrees to Genevieve’s request after she agrees to conditions he sets. The story also features flashbacks from the miracle 5 of which Genevieve is a part of, I won’t go into details of that in this review I’ll let you read the story to find out about that.

Concluding thoughts and best elements of the book for me.

This book was fantastic, I loved seeing Genevieve grow as a character and start to embrace her imperfection god’s grace was present throughout and it was lovely to see Genevieve truly accept that. It was also lovely to see how god helped Sam come to terms with his past. Gods grace was present throughout the novel but not in a preachy forceful way meaning that non Christians can pick up the book and enjoy it without feeling preached at and hopefully receive the grace of god within this book. I also loved the flashback scenes featuring each of the miracle 5 specially Luke who is the character who struggled most with the ordeal they went through due to guilt around his brother. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of this series and reading there stories. An amazing read and fully deserves the 5 star rating I’ve given. I used the audible book and the multiple narration given the flashbacks from the miracle 5 really added another layer to the story.

I really hope any non-Christian who reads this novel will be lead to accept god’s grace and commit there lives to Jesus.

I’ve read a number of books by this author including the porter family series and the novella and first book in the Bradford sisters series however I agree with other reviewers this is by far the best book I’ve read by this author and I’ve enjoyed all of them.

Wel done to Becky Wade for producing such a heart warming, thought provoking Christian novel.
