About this listen

Rowena Batts has enough problems in her life without adopting a crazy cockatoo. She's just splattered two hundred grown-ups with jelly and custard, and her dad's getting married to her teacher. But Sticky the cockatoo turns out to be just the friend she needs.

Another hilarious book about Rowena Batts, an extraordinary, articulate girl who doesn't let a fact like not being able to speak stand in her way.

Editor reviews

Rowena Batts is back in another adventure from the award-winning author Morris Gleitzman. With Gleitzman handing the performance duties off to comedian and actor Mary-Anne Fahey, Rowena’s adventures take on a whole new level of hilarity. A mishap at a school function, where Rowena somehow manages to cover the entire audience with a custard-and-jelly dish, gets the action rolling. From there, Rowena comes into possession of a wily cockatoo, Sticky. Despite her initial feelings, it turns out Sticky might just be what the intrepid mute girl needs to help her get by.

Critic reviews

"An unusually engaging heroine who has an equally unusual condition." (Publishers Weekly)
