Summary
Laurie Morgan runs a café in the small seaside community of Mermaids Point, named after the beauties rumoured to live in the waters a few miles off the top of the point. When a hazy image is posted online of what appears to be a mermaid, the café and the village are soon full to bursting with curious sightseers.
The most eye-catching of the new arrivals is handsome author Jake Smith, who has rented a cottage for the summer while he works on his new book. Or so he says. In fact, he is a journalist, burned out and disillusioned with life, whose editor has sent him on a crack-pot hunt for mermaids....
Jake quickly finds himself drawn to village life, and to the gorgeous woman who runs the local café. But he soon suspects there’s trouble lurking beneath the idyllic façade, and when it looks like Laurie’s family might be involved, Jake faces a difficult choice. Pursue the truth, or protect the woman he’s beginning to fall in love with....

I quite enjoyed it
I didn’t let the negative reviews put me off. Glad I listened to the story. It may not be for everybody but I found myself caring what happened to the characters and thought it worth the listen.

Enjoyable easy listen
The plot, especially the ending, is far fetched. But an enjoyable nighttime listen to have burbling away. Has enough hooks to keep the listeners attention. Also has the seductive idea of an ever loving, perfect family.

Another excellent Boldwood book.
I really enjoyed this book and now look forward to reading the rest of the series. A lovely story with nice characters and well narrated.

Good Read
I really enjoyed this book however I was not convinced that his deception was as dramatic as it was made out to be and I found the end a little rushed. Saying that though, I am looking forward to the next in the series

Easy listen if you want light and fluffy

Sweet
I enjoyed it, it was lovely. The story is set in a cute little English seaside town with mentiones of English bakery goods. I was sold on that.

Lovely Story
Really enjoyed the simple nature of this story. I found the narrator's style a tad fast and disinterested at times at the beginning but quickly warmed to her style.
In parts the story felt a little rushed along but it was a very pleasant listen.
