About this listen

Things have reached a critical point in the Middle East. Carter agreed to serve as a consultant for his old Force Recon unit but, for reasons unknown to his friends and family, jumped from the command center and into the field. Now he’s MIA, and Fortune is the only one who can put together a rescue mission that has any chance of being successful. But will her skills and connections be enough?

Most Sinful residents are unaware of Carter’s crisis and are going about their daily lives as they always have, including local prankster Gage Babin. Except this time, Gage’s attempt to elicit laughs leaves him on a slab in the medical examiner’s office. Everyone knows how unhealthy he was, but Fortune thinks there’s more to his death than a poorly timed prank that caused his bad heart to give out.

Unfortunately, what she knows and what she can prove are two different things. And unless she can find the evidence to support her theory, someone will get away with murder.

This is a two part story

The first part covers Fortune and friends rescuing Carter, I found it quite interesting that the mental as well as the physical recovery from the rescue was included as this is often overlooked.
The second part covered the death of a local joker. All the likely suspects were nice people.
N.B. Gertie the does NOT blow anything up this time and Rambo chases Celia!!

I love this writer ❤️

I adore the whole army issue. Then sideline storyline but I would like to have heard the conclusion right through to the satisfaction that I wanted but it was really important to get there in the end. She is a brilliant story teller

Great read

As always the book has not disappointed. It's funny with good plot and lovable characters. Narration fits the book beautifully. Cannot wait to listen to the sequel.

A truly perfect series!

I have all of the Miss Fortune series. They are just damn funny. The mysteries are all different and evolve differently so I have not hit the repetition boredom that many series get bogged down in.

The interpersonal stories keep evolving which adds to the ongoing series appeal.

Narrator Cassandra Campbell IS Sinful, Louisiana. Her range of voices has created an entire town, each character vocally different.

I applaud you all.

A perfect match of writer and narrator. Brilliant!

The main characters are wonderful - fun, outrageous, passionate, full of surprises. I’ve listened to the whole series several times and am already looking forward to the next one. Treat yourself to a piece of Sinful life - go on, you won’t regret it!

Swamp Spies

One of the best ones yet, starting straight in with the mission to rescue Carter. Having Ida Belle and Girtie alone to help with cover but making the trip a hoot. Then as soon as they make it home they are straight in with the mystery. With Celia coursing mayhem and damage then blaming everyone else.
With loads of laugh out loud moments all the way through the book. How Cassandra Campbell dose not crack up during the recording I do not know. But she captures the story and all the silliness and drama while keeping all the characters clear and easy to follow. Loved this story and audio book.
