Summary

When we use chemical fertilizers, we injure the microbial life that sustains plants and then become increasingly dependent on an arsenal of toxic substances. Teaming with Microbes offers an alternative to this vicious circle and details how to garden in a way that strengthens, rather than destroys, the soil food web. You’ll discover that healthy soil is teeming with life - not just earthworms and insects, but a staggering multitude of bacteria, fungi, and other microorganisms.

This must-have guide is for everyone, from those devoted to organic gardening techniques to weekend gardeners who simply want to grow healthy plants without resorting to chemicals.

An insight to another world

Brilliantly informative. Think I’ll buy my dad a copy and him off those synthetics! It really is a fascinating subject and this book walks you through the microbial network and how it all works as well as how to help it along and make the changes you need to have your soil team with life to give all your vegetation the best conditions to thrive in. Highly recommend!

Mostly seems plausible but terrible narration

The science seems plausible to me with a lot of eye opening facts that I'd never thought about, but the narration is too halting and doesn't always flow well. I had wondered if it was narrated by an A.I.

Most useful!

Introduction to next level gardening. Must read book for plant people. Waiting for other books appearing on Audible.

Worth a listen but could be improved

My star ratings here are maybe a tiny bit generous as I don’t want to put people off the subject matter! I mean, this is a decent enough introduction, more of an awareness raiser than a rigorous textbook, something to inspire you to read/listen further.
Everything is just presented as fact and I wonder how sound the evidence is for some of the claims.
Sometimes the language is a little too loose and almost to the point of being nonsensical, like “these can eat multitudes of bacteria in an hour” - the mixing a definite timespan with an open-ended quantity term (how big is a multitude?) is meaningless and annoying.
The bizarre staccato narration is quite difficult to get used to and some of the pronunciation is way off, but never mind.

The authors really know their stuff

Full of information and easy to remember rules to charge into regenerative gardening or ideas to expand regenerative agriculture.

I thought the book was informative and definitely in-depth and improved my understanding considerably.
The narrator was ok but lack of pictures, tables and lists (obviously available in the book) made some elements difficult

Needs re-recording

The audio on this is terrible, currently on chapter 4 and there's just too much high tone at the end of each word, not sure I can finish as really difficult to listen to, going to buy the book instead. Real shame as the info so far is great.

Buy the book instead

I gave up on this not because of dull content, but because the narration was painful. Do try the sample before buying. I've claimed a refund and will buy the paper version instead.
