So not realistic
I'm still listening to this book but getting annoyed by the minute. Don't get me wrong. I know stories are supposed to take you away from reality, but this one is a bit much.
Firstly, what therapist would think it appropriate to move in with former clients, and why would said clients think it's okay? The woman is so obviously manipulating Meg, and she is too dumb to see it.
Mark was arrested for a number of offences, including common assault,which is what I heard initially. This is now ABH. HUH???. You cannot have a trial for ABH in a magistrates court.
What reason did the police have to speak to Mark's employers? None.
Mark's solicitor was going to cost £20k. In a magistrates court? No way.
What kind of fine would he get that would mean he had to sell his house? That would possibly only happen if it was from the proceeds of crime. No court is going to make someone homeless.
They don't have any money, but an expensive alarm system has been installed in their home suggested by the therapist..
Nobody does COMMUNITY SERVICE anymore. It's called UNPAID WORK.
The therapist suggests to Mark that he should sign the house over to Meg. He agrees and this is done in a jiffy. Mark has no money to pay for a solicitor for his Court case but manages to get this done the day after speaking to Meg about it. How much did this cost Mark because I know it wouldn't be free and neither would it be that easy when his sister is alive and may have a vested interest in this.
I haven't finished it and it's really irritating me. Please get your facts right. I really hate when I listen/read a book where the author hasn't done their research. By all means, add drama but, inconsistencies are annoying.
I may have to review again.
