Summary

Across the length and breadth of the galaxy, humankind celebrates its salvation and relishes the prospect of a return to peace. But the war against the orks has driven the political bedrock of the Imperium, exposing its rotten core.

One man, one powerful man, decides he has the solution and launches a campaign of destruction so terrible that thousands of years later his actions will still be viewed with horror.

A very good ending to a fantastic story!

I really enjoyed the whole series and I though this book was a great way to end it. I really enjoy Guy’s writing and I think that it was the right choice to have him end it.

I really hope they do more 12 book series like this in the future.

great ending to the series.

For lovers of the lore, you know what's going to happen, but it's great to see how it transpires. I would have liked to see the final couple of chapters fleshed out a bit with more on Goge Vandire's decent into madness, but overall, it's a great story with nice little reveals.

GoT style plot twist ending to a fantastic series

Great way to finish! All the stories you may have wondered if they'd be left unfinished are tidied up nicely, leaving you satisfied with the conclusion of 60+hours of grimdark goodness

A rushed, disappointing end to the series

The whole story was a bit rushed and felt as though the only reason it was being written is so that everything would align with the lore

Too rushed wrap up

In general the series was good, although a bit repetitive in places - 3 attacks on Ulanor?!?

This last novel rushes things, skipping out a 100 years in the last 2 chapters, so that the established characters' development make no sense.

A good series, End ruined

I enjoyed the series a lot, lot's of highs and lows for mankind and the space marines, lots of holes which can easily be ignored, the end for me was ruined by how Drakan Vangorich was treated in the penultimate chapter. Most of the series is half politics of the imperium and half might of the imperium in action, a nice smattering of the officio assassinorum throughout. Just a real shame about the ending which was not well done.

A FUBAR ending to one of the best story lines

I love the series and this is my second time listening to it, but the ending is still deeply disappointing and fare from the standard set by the previous books.
I would rather the series ended with book 11
