Summary

Great tales of the turf, from Jorrocks to Black Caviar.

Jim Haynes loves the sport of kings nearly as much as he loves bush yarns, and in this volume he brings these two great loves together in the biggest book of Australian racing stories ever.

Full of tall tales and true, laughter, romance and heartbreak, and chock-a-block with the best Australian racing stories, verses and yarns, Jim tells of the great champions, the tragedies, and the unique characters (equine and human) of the track. Then there are the famous races, the touts and urgers, rorts, betting-ring battles and country race meetings where anything can happen.

A stayer, not a sprint

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Not unless they loved horses and racing.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Some of the humourous stories were interesting.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The one called The Wrong Diagnosis.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed when I heard the chapter called The Wrong Diagnosis.

Any additional comments?

Not into horses and horse racing but wanted to listen to hear the stories and appreciate the writing and narration by Jim which I thought was well delivered.
