Story
Leo and his best friend, Sangeetha, are the odd ones out in their school. In fact, they seem to be the odd ones out no matter where they go in their small town. But as Leo's dad is always telling him, it's only because he's extra special, and Sangeetha is extra, extra special. Only thing is, if they're so special, how come Leo never sees anyone who likes him in the history books he loves to read? But on a special class trip to a nearby cathedral one day, Leo's attention is drawn to a large marble slab high above the doors of the hall, featuring a short list of names.

Story
There used to be an empty chair at the back of my class, but now a new boy called Ahmet is sitting in it. He's nine years old (just like me), but he's very strange. He never talks and never smiles and doesn't like sweets - not even lemon sherbets, which are my favourite! But the truth is, Ahmet really isn't very strange at all. He's a refugee who's run away from a war. A real one. With bombs and fires and bullies that hurt people. And the more I find out about him, the more I want to be his friend.

Summary
Emmie let out a huge sob. “It’s not a film set,” she cried. She held on to Jack for a moment, then took a step back, closed her eyes, and shouted, “WHERE AM I?”
When Jack and Emmie suddenly find themselves transported back to London in 1940, they find a world both familiar, yet very different. As they dodge falling bombs and overzealous policemen, they befriend Jan, a lonely Polish refugee. Together, they must work out if the shadowy figure they keep seeing is a spy and unlock the secret of getting home again....
This educational story helps to weave current views and historical events together in an exciting adventure that would appeal to both boys and girls.

Awesome!
Awesome little book! What a time and place to travel back to. It's definitely something that I would give my kids to read or even something I could see kids reading this in school. But A book that the kids would actually enjoy reading. It really gets you thinking not only about the huge time jump and how things have changed just in that alone. But there is also a war going on? Totally crazy. Especially with what's going on in the world today...who knows what tomorrow brings. But still, the book was fun, an easy read, and held my attention throughout. I also listened to the audible version... the narrator did an excellent job. He was perfect for that part!
